- inna sHaifa, Israel289 contributionsdefinitely a must see in the areaThe castle itself and its surroundings are amazingly beautiful. I think it is enough to take ticket only for the first floor unless you're a real history fun. Leave an hour or two just to walk around and see amazing views.Visited August 2022Written 19 December 2022
- NatashaBatPiraeus, Greece34 contributionsUseful tips for your visit at the Castle!I've visited the castle in 2017 with a friend of mine, with a tour guided group from Bucharest. The trip was very pleasant and having a guide surely helps! What wasn't cool was that upon entry to the castle, the guide told us that if we wanted to take photos, we had to pay an extra fee. A few days ago, I visited the castle again, with my husband this time, and we went by train and foot, without the guide. First of all, there's no extra fee to take photos! A fee applies only to professional photographers and that's a signed licence. If you go to the Sinaia train station as well, there's a bus that can get you pretty close to the castle and then you'll still have a 10' walk. Also, you can leave you luggage at the lady at the station for 10 lei/bag (you can find her at the WC). We didn't know about the bus and walked all the way to the castle from the train station, through a lot steep stairs all the way up! It was like walking to Mordor, but the path that Frodo & Sam took!!! Anyway, when we finally reached the castle, you can go straight in if you've bought your ticket online, something I totally recommend, as we skipped the huge waiting line! The ticket was decent priced and the castle was majestic! The 1st time I visited, with the tour guide, we had the basic tour and it was very nice, he explained lot of stuff and we learned a lot about the royal family. Now, the 2nd time, we took the optional tour I and II and honestly, they didn't worth it. Especially the optional tour II was just some guest bedrooms, very plain and basic. The optional tour I included the royal family's bedrooms, that was very nice, but if you don't have enough time and money to give to Peles Castle, then the basic tour is just fine! The castle's both exterior and interior is absolutely beautiful, it was one of the most pretty things I've ever seen and totally recommend it!Visited December 2022Written 29 December 2022
- Guillaume PLausanne, Switzerland9 contributionsWonderful placeWe did not know about this castle before booking a guide for a day trip to Brasov from Bucharest. We stopped at Peles Castle for few hours early in the morning and had the chance to visit it without any other tourist before the opening thanks to our guide. The history inside this castle is also really interesting with a good guide.Visited January 2023Written 17 January 2023
- Konstantinos SCorfu, Greece8 contributionsExcellent, stunning modern castleAn absolutely majestic experience in one of the biggest castles. Great exhibits bringing you back to an age before the castle was built with baroque elements and rooms inspired from romanticism movement. Would absolutely recommend having a guide and taking the extended option of the tour.Visited January 2023Written 23 January 2023
- VELZAlberta, Canada19 contributionsLOOKING FOR YOUR PRINCE OR PRINCESS!I went there my my family from Transylvania, and my daughter from Canada. We went on a day trip. It was an unexpected surprise! From the walk through the trees, up a slight hill to the magical castle of the first President of Romania(used to be his summer palace). From the lawns, to the cafe, to the tours of the interior, it was amazing! Every room is so different in decor. We loved the turkish room the best. And, the libarary. Oh the history! Give yourself the whole day, and take your time. Then on the way back down to your vehicle, take in the amazing markets and food. Superb!Visited August 2022Written 3 February 2023
- John HLeigh, United Kingdom320 contributionsFoggy TuesdayThe castle, gardens and views are probably stunning. Unfortunately we visited on a Tuesday in fog. On Tuesday the castle is closed to the public although the grounds are open. We enjoyed our walk through the grounds even though we could not see the lovely mountain scenery. The cafe serves exceptional confectionery and of course the mandatory mulled wine. A place well worth a visit but not on a Tuesday.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 February 2023
- MKTBETopeka, Kansas3,046 contributionsMagnificent Peles Castle and Grounds!Peles Castle is a fairy-tale castle nestled into the Carpathian Mountains in Sinaia, Romania. It was built for King Carol I, as the royal families summer palace retreat. It was also the first European castle to have electricity. As we toured the castle, we were in awe at the beauty and detailed intricacies of this exquisite palace. King Carol spared no expense on adorning the palace with European art, Murano Glass Chandeliers, German Stained glass windows, and even the beautiful stained glass roof of the foyer is retractable - Wow! Each room was decorated in a different style or theme. The grounds are equally impressive, with so many photo opportunities. Peles Castle is one of the most beautiful European castles that I have visited and is worth a day-trip to visit.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 February 2023
- HustleMom4Dubai, United Arab Emirates97 contributionsPeles Castle ExperienceLove the scenic ambiance of the castle from the entrance, the view was so stunningly beautiful. There were two castles inside plus the amazing place to walk around. We went to Peles castle it was amazing view from the courtyard. Although we have noticed that there were no english translation on the description from outside the castle as we walk thru and reading some historical information. When we headed to enter the castle, the entrance fee is way up than what we expected and we didn't get the chance to enter. Nonetheless we still did enjoy the view, very picturesque and great history knowledge.Visited March 2023Written 3 April 2023

It is so picturesque on the mountain side. We thoroughly enjoyed it. There’s also the smaller Pelisor Castle right next to it if you have time.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 May 2023

It is one of the modern castles of Europe with fully functioning electricity from the beginning. This castle has been featured in A Christmas Prince Netlfix movie series as Royal Castle of Aldovia. I couldn’t visit the musuem situated inside castle as it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. The castle looks very pretty and I couldn’t get enough of it. In the backdrops, you can notice snow covered mountains as well. I took a one day guided bus tour from Bucharest for this. Superb experience stunning environment in the Carpathian Mountains
Saw a fox and walked down through the woods to come upon the castle
Like a fairytale baroque style nod to gothic architecture
Italian Murano glass chandeliers inside
The craftsmanship to the wood inside marble etc was out of this world
Price for adult student and senior 85 Ron about £18 so worth every penny

The palace is extraordinary but the experience is lousy. There is no organization whatsoever. On a Sunday it’s a mob scene of bus tours. We arrived 5 minutes before opening with pre-purchased tickets and still waited 30 in a giant mass to get in the door. I can’t believe that a site this well known and culturally important in Romania can’t figure out how to do this better. The groups were so big that we rushed through many of the first rooms just to get away from the mobs. Such a shame because it’s beautiful.
Happily, we did purchase tickets to the 1st floor in addition to the ground floor and we had it all to ourselves! Saw the Royal apartments, concert hall, musics rooms and small salons. We were also to look down on some of the found floor rooms from above.
There’s hardly any parking so walk there even though it’s uphill. If you can, don’t go on a weekend. We didn’t have a choice based on our itinerary but it must be better during the week.

Beautiful Castle, well worth visiting, we done the ground’s on the Monday when the Castle was closed and got some stunning photos, we came back on the Wednesday and done the ground floor tour on our own as we had come by hire car, the inside just takes your breath away by how beautiful it is, so happy we made the decision to come on our own as the tour groups were herded around like sheep hardly getting enough time for photos, everything was in different languages so could get plenty information about each room, we done the grounds of Pelisor Castle and got some lovely photos of the outside of the Castle but didn’t bother to visit as the reviews weren’t raving about it in the same way as it was less grandiose than Peles, well worth going out your way to visit. On the Wednesday the Castle didn’t open until 10am, on some websites it gives earlier opening times, best to check Castles own website for accuracy.

We took the train from Bucharest to Sinaia which was really easy and cheap rather than travel on a large, busy organised tour. Doing it that way we were able to spend as long as we liked at the castle and get deeper into its history.
The walk from the station is uphill all the way but is really pleasant through parks and woodland and takes about 35 minutes.
The castle (or palace really) is beautiful and its location is stunning. Give yourself enough time to visit all the floors that are open. You'll see the contrast between the Royal apartments and those on the upper floor for guests and important staff!
The town itself is a little touristy but that's to be expected and has some nice restaurants and bars.

We visited with our tour guide who parked his van in a privileged position so were very lucky as he parked very close to the entrance as when we left after our visit there were streams and streams of people walking down the steep hill towards the castle so it’s best to get there as early as you can to avoid the crowds. As for the castle itself it’s absolutely breath taking. Simply stunning. From artwork to (suits of) armour, statues, sculptures and engraving as well as a huge medieval weapons collection it’s an experience well worth immersing yourself in.
The views from the castle steps are beautiful and there’s a little of the grounds to walk around as well out the front.
You can easily spend half a day there looking around inside, maybe longer if you opt for some of the other floors of the castle that aren’t included in the initial basic ticket price.
There’s a really nice café there with chairs and tables under parasols to keep the sun off while you enjoy a bite to eat and a drink and depending on where you choose to sit there’s some lovely views from there as well.
This was one of the many highlights we had visiting Romania and I can’t help thinking that other castle visits in other countries will now pale in comparison to this inspiring place.

This the best castle we have ever seen, it was complete in 1914 and had electricity incorporated. It is beyond belief the standard of the workmanship is marvellous. This has to be a place to visit without a doubt

We had a somewhat chaotic arrival - we found the parking area entrance and parked about 1km from the castle. There are no facilities of any kind near the car park apart from a small restaurant. A further walk uphill and there is another small hotel with a cafe/restaurant. You keep going and eventually you get a really good view of the castle which is very pretty. It was a hot day and we had a lot of travel so we didn't walk up the remaining hill to get to the castle itself. It would be good to have a shuttle bus for days when the weather is too hot or cold or for the elderly etc. I imagine that the car park gets full on busy days and then it would be a very long walk.

Yes and yes. They're open Wednesday to Sunday. Pelișor is very close, same hours. The peles is still crowded but you'll get in. You'll be with a lot of people though.. but you'll not be dissapointed.
