We walked out to the Isla de Las Palomas, despite knowing it is closed to the public. The second we arrived, some fisherman was exiting the automatic gate and we slipped in - not having a clue what "personas no autorizadas sin entrada" means ;-)...More

The fort on the tiny island itself was not open to public. However the causeway out to the gate was an experience in itself. When we visited the wind gusts was so strong it was not easy to keep the balance. The fine sand in...More

We went to visit the fort and take advantage of the late hour to see a sunset. The fort is closed to the public and all we could see were abandoned buildings, gates and CCTV cameras pointing at the gates. I guess if you are...More

The island is closed, but it is definitely worth walking the few hundred metters on the causeway and see the Atlantic on the right, much wavier and agitated, and the Meditanian sea on the left, much calmer, and then far in the distance on the...More

A very windy sand blasted walk along the causeway with the Med on the East and the Atlantic on the west. The Isle is quite large but the gates locked as we were told it is used now as an immigration centre. Enjoyable experience.

Having walked across the causeway dodging the spray whipped up by the sea in the very windy conditions we arrived at The Isla and continued walking through into what looked like an abandoned army base. There were gates but they were wide open. Looked really...More
