A great experience. Traditional and quick! Having the day card you don't have to pay extra. I felt like a swiss, not like seeing a tourist attraction.

I took the funiculaire from the lower to the upper city. It is included with the Swiss Pass. It was a short but interesting way to ascend to the upper city. The operator was pleasant.

An impressive funiculaire, a 100 years old and 100% ecologic. Uses waste-water as driving power. A genius stroke of engineering.

This is a great way to see over tops of the houses down into the old town. Bringing you to a great spot to explore the picturesque old town of Fribourg

Worth using from its lower side as it's quite a steep climb back up the streets above. Just be warned though that it's powered by the use of "dirty" water and can be a bit whiffy.
