Quiet part of town

We couldn't get a trip as it was out of season but it was just lovely to sit on one of the many benches and watch the world go by.

Working lock

We walked along the canal and watched two men working the lock to allow the canal barge through. It was lovely to see this in action.

Lunch in Hungerford followed by Canal boat ride
Sep 2020
A trip up the canal on the Rose of Hungerford narrow boat with a very interesting commentary from one of the experienced crew. Cream teas, snacks and drinks available. Excellent lunch in one of the many top pubs in the area, what not to like!!

Beautiful walk along the wharf from Hungerford
Very picturesque, and interesting people on the narrow boats, chatting whilst manoeuvring through the locks. Very peaceful watching the wild life too

Catch it if you are passing
Sep 2020
Not as big as expected but worth a look if nearby. Pretty little area of town where you can watch the boats go by.

The Rose of Hungerford
Aug 2020
The canal trip run by The Kennet & Avon Trust is a must when visiting Hungerford. The staff are all volunteers and work tirelessly to provide an excellent esxperience. A BIG thank you to them all.

Thank you so much for this wonderful 5* review. As you say, The Rose of Hungerford is crewed and run by a team of fully trained volunteers who do it because they love it. It can be hard work but it is always enjoyable knowing that we are sharing the delights of The Rose and the Kennet and Avon Canal and raising much needed funds for the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust at the same time. Comments such as yours are appreciated by the whole team and make it all worthwhile. We hope to be able to welcome you back onboard The Rose at some stage in the future.
