A visit here needs to be timed to coincide with the guided "tour" a word used lightly because it is just two rooms packed full of musical "instruments " going back two years. Music boxes, phonographs, barrel organ .... all here including the expression "put a sock in it".

Important bit first. A couple of really good ales, selection of wine, spirits and coffee and gifts. The display of mechanical music and the explanation by the guide are superb. Would recommend it as an excellent way to pass a couple of hours. If you like to know how things work this is the place.

Found the museum via the website and what a find! Although quite small the exhibits are beautifully restored and all are in working condition. The enthusiasm of Sally, our guide, was infectious and we enjoyed a tour of the instruments. Each one was described in detail before being played. The experience of being allowed to 'play' a barrel organ was... More

While I don't normally like museums, this I lived. The tour is short but run by an expert who tells you the really interesting bits. There is also a gift shop

This museum is a real find. You see it with the help of a guide - and she not only set the extremely interesting exhibits in context and explained the mechanisms etc, but did so in a very amusing and enthusiastic fashion. Lovely to hear many of the extraordinary machines in action - including Rachmaninov playing one of his Preludes

Dear Mechanical Music By way of an apology we (myself and lady friend) literally popped in to your museum this Sunday just gone with half an hour before having lunch at the Fosse Bridge Inn. The reason for the apology that due to time restraints and not realising we needed a good hour to enjoy the thoroughly interesting guided tour... More

Visited here today, January 2nd 2017, after reading previous reviews and it is definitely worth a detour if you're anywhere nearby! The museum consists of 2 rooms at the back of a cafe/pub. If you are lucky like us then you walk in and there are no other visitors, so you get a one to one, or in our case... More
