About
Caolas Gallery, Isle of Harris. The Gallery is housed in a beautiful wooden Yurt with south facing windows looking over the sea. The Yurt has a central dome roof light which floods the space with natural light, and a wildflower meadow turf roof. The Gallery houses the work of Photographic Artist Stefan Davies, prints, framed prints, stretched canvas and gifts are available along with Harris Tweed gifts. We serve Fair Trade Teas and Coffee along with seriously yummy cakes (refreshment profits for charity).

We were staying nearby in an b&b and visited here for a hot drink. It was a lovely relaxing locational and Stefans photos are amazing. He let us look around his airbnb which looked beautiful so we will definitely be booking it for next year.

We stayed here during our drive north from Barra to Stornoway in Outer Hebrides and loved this beautifully designed wooden Yurt. Stefan was nothing but a brilliant host completely honest when I mistakenly offered to pay more. It was our favourite place and one we will definitely go back to. We loved the design of the windows and view to the sea.
I am fussy about cleanliness and noise and it is clean and very peaceful. I highly recommend it. The kitchen water is a little unusual as through boiler that heats it, but we had good showers. Soare small items for the kitchen such as milk are supplied too- very impressed.
The Yurt next to it is the art gallery with Stefan’s photos and is also worth a visit as great. I would have wanted one except we are trying to downsize so no wall space. I highly recommend as Stefan is very talented.

After a wonderful walk to Eilean Glas Lighthouse, we stopped off at the gallery for coffee and cake. The coffee was good as were the homemade cakes and sitting in the warm gallery surrounded by beautiful and interesting photography was a pleasure.

My wife , her parents and I had the good fortunate to call into Caolas Gallery where we were attended to by a really good natured young man.

The tea's and coffee were all very nice and the cakes where an utter delight.

It made a rainy afternoon into a very nice treat.

The ladies bought some very nice Harris Tweed cushions too!

We stayed 1 night in a little yurt next to the gallery. It was spotless, comfy and had just about everything you needed. The views over the sea were incredible, and it was so good to lie in bed the next morning with a cuppa! We also popped into the gallery and bought a beautiful print of one of the nearby beaches

Had some lovely cake and herbal tea, served by the talented photographer that owns this gallery and coffee shop. I also bought a fabulous framed photo. Highly recommended.

We called in recently when we spotted a sign for the gallery en route between the Scalpay Bridge and Tarbert. There is off road parking for a few cars but any more might be tight. Note the location on TA at time of writing is the family home at Cluer, not the gallery, which is at 11 Kyles Scalpay (near the Scalpay Bridge).

We were greeted by the photographer's father (who was "minding the shop" in his son's absence) and shown into the circular gallery building. It's small but comfy with several chairs and tables where you could sit and peruse the work which is on the surrounding walls. And some nice work it is too, mostly landscapes of the Hebrides by Stefan Davies available as framed prints or unframed. There is coffee available with payment by donation to charity however we had just had some with breakfast so passed on this occasion.

We purchased a signed mounted print of St Kilda and despite some issues getting a signal for the card machine, fortunately we had cash as an alternative! We enjoyed our chat with Stefan's father and by chance were heading to Cluer to stay at a B&B the same day, near where the family live hence my comment about the location.

Nice place worth a browse. Cluer, on the Golden Road, is also worth a visit as it's a scenic area.

We chose Stephan to photograph our wedding on luskentyre beach for us on the 31st of August after putting a lot of thought and research into who we would have capture these moments for us and we couldn't be happier with our choice, having a good photographer was one of my main priorities for our big day being a professional photographer myself, and Stephan has been great from the start even recommending our registrar on the island. We can't wait to see our photographs! We had such an amazing time getting married on Harris it couldn't have been anymore perfect and to have Stephan there to capture the moments for us for ever in time in picture is just magical. Stephan is so easy going and so easy to get along with he made the whole process very easy, and has kept good communications before and after our wedding. I would highly recommend choosing him as your wedding phographer should you be going to Harris to get married. Many thanks to you once again Stephan. The new Mr & Mrs Blackmore

Called in here as we were looking for an afternoon coffee and cake stop. The gallery is in a little yurt in the garden and was full of beautiful prints as well as some hand-made crafts (stunning rugs and cushion covers) made by family. It was a lovely setting and the owner made us a cafetiere of coffee and we had some of the best home-made cakes of our entire 3 week trip! We were informed they were made by his mum and auntie - I wish I had family who could bake like that! The cost was a 'suggested donation' of which the profits went to charity. This was just left in a bowl near the till - a reflection of the honesty and trust which still survives on these islands.
A great little stop and well worth the visit.
