This is an amazing work of art, very well displayed and absolutely wonderful.
We were staying in Gwbert and fishguard is short drive, the tapestry is in town square, guildhall.
Fishguard itself is lovely to wander round , very clean and pretty.

The tapestry is housed in theTown Hall. There is access via a lift for those unable to walk or use a wheelchair. It is truly a remarkable piece of work and to think it very nearly ended up being moved elsewhere is unthinkable. The needlework is truly beautiful, creating texture and depth of colour. A must see!

Very interesting collection of found items & stories about the last invasion of Britain. This event is not well known but the story is fascinating. Well done to the local community for presenting such a fine attraction

A very underrated attraction - it is FANTASTIC and you MUST go if around Fishguard. Delightful and admirable handiwork by the local ladies, it tells the amazing story of the Last Invasion of Britain (by a bunch of press-ganged French convicts) in the C18th and how they were repelled by the townspeople and in particular the now famous local mam, Gemima Nicholas. It is so good to see - and perhaps should be loaned to Bayeax when the 1066 tapestry comes to Britain!

When you are holidaying in Pembrokeshire, make a date to see the Last Invasion Tapestry situated in the Town Hall. This was one of the highlights of our holiday.

This wonderful community generated art/hsitory/embroidery/craft panel is a triumph hidden in the library gallery in unassuming Fishguard. It tells the history of the last mainland invasion in 1797 - commenerated in 1997 by a talented designer and 72 local ladies. It is full of colour, humour and small sub stories. Fasinating process is described in an audio vsual loop and the stiches to achieve a wonderful story in cartoons. Of interest to historians, needlecrafters and locals. Free to enter with donations welcomed shares city hall with the local market selling meat, cheeses, baked goods and crafts.

The tapestry is a wonderful piece of work from local sewing people and historians. Well worth a visit. We were allowed to take our well behaved dog in, which was helpful as otherwise one of us would have missed it. There is a 40 minute video documentary in a separate room. Worth a visit

We came to look at the Last Invasion tapestry, as we knew nothing about this historical event. We had no idea that the last invasion on our shores was in Fishguard by the French in 1797, but this beautiful tapestry told us all about it, in glorious detail. The intricate stitchwork was incredible, and a credit to all the ladies who took the time to make it for the Bicentennial celebrations. It is kept in the Town hall in the centre of Fishguard, and there are all sorts of exhibits from the time of the invasion. It is free to look at, and well worth a visit.

Fascinating story of the last French invasion. In addition to the tapestry there's a 45 minutes video presentation - we didn't have to watch it, but worth considering. It's upstairs at the Town Hall by the roundabout. You can park free at the Co-op up the road for a couple of hours.

If you are in the area this is a "must see" exhibition. A beautiful work of art and its much longer than I imagined. There is a booklet that walks you through the tapestry, this is essential to pick up on some of finer details.
