I very much enjoyed visiting this volcano when my wife and I visited Rapa Nui. This inactive volcano (which has not been active for over 2,000 years) collects rainwater in its basin which is probably 8 to 16 meters deep. We learned from a Rapa...More

Very close to Orongo you have a very good view of the crater that imploded 2.5 million years ago. You can take pictures from different angles. This is the highest point in the island. Worth you time.

What a great place to visit. At first it was raining and misty, but once it had cleaned it had fantastic views. Well worth making the 6 hour trip by plane to get to Easter Island - Its a must see on any bucket list

Walking around the edge of the volcanic crater we have had great view on the crater for it self with lake in middle. Rano Kau is beautiful example how Mother Nature creates magnificent landscapes.

You can drive to the mirador and walk around the crater edge taking in the views out to the Pacific Ocean. Best in the morning light. This is very close to Orongo village so the two can be combined.

Impressive crater filled with fresh water that's approx 200m deep. Through core sample research, seeds of indigenous plants that once thrived on Rapa Nui were found in this crater. At the mirador, you have a fantastic view of the crater on one side and Hanga...More

This place is a must see in the island, not only because of the proximity to see the volcano but also to see the village where the native people celebrated religious ceremonies . Totally worth it! We went with my 10 months baby and it...More
