I'm not sure that it's necessary for the dreadlocked white boys to join in, but no-one seemed to mind when they did. a local custom, monetised for the frequent visitors to the nearby volcano. Do it and feel like you've seen at least one small...More

Was nice but even better having watched the movie. A few handmade items to purchase along with DVDs. Interesting tour of the village, and was great meeting everyone. Loved the dancing, and the treehouse. Quite a wait for people to show up though when we...More

If you saw the movie Tanna, this is the village where it was shot. I was super keen to see the village life but was quite disappointed. We came unannounced and caught them a bit in surprise and literally saw normally dressed kids running away...More

Yakel village was interesting. It gave us a chance to understand the culture and way of life in vaunuatu. Though I enjoy learning about cultures and history, I did get bored :( To be honest, most of the cultural shows on the islands of Vanuatu...More

A very enjoyable tour showing the traditional lifestyle of the people from Tanna Island. Needs to have improvement but for a tour that is new it was very good

Enjoyable adventure and is certainly off the beaten track and we found it interesting that you are able to see tradition that is many generation old still being used today.

You can pick up a UTE (taxi) and they can take you up there for 3000 vatu ($36). The taxi will pick up other people on the way. That's the way it's done. It's fun. Go to the market and ask around for a taxi.
