Words can't describe the sound and sight of this monster. Or the feeling of her rumble under your feet. The drive from the airport to Yasur was beautiful and gave a insight into island village life and the friendly happy people. Apart from a mix...More

We recently did the charter trip to Tanna (volcano tour, reviewed elsewhere), but the flight there, around, and back is worth a separate mention. As a (now expired) PPL holder, I found the flight to be the best part of the trip, and Oscar doing...More

We had a great time on our visit to Yasur Volcano. We did the trip from Whitegrass Resort and was probably about a 90 minute trip to get there. The road is rough, but it is a great way to see island life which is...More

A tour of the volcano is a must and so much better in the dark than the daytime. A bit disappointed we couldn't walk all the way around the rim as the tour implied but still incredible experience to feel the earth rumble beneath your...More

Obviously this is a unique experience. It is not everyday one gets to see a volcano up close, unless you're one of the locals here. The is some ceremony at the foot of the volcano, with the local chief having to grant permission for the...More

Did this as part of a tour and did a flight over the mountain at twilight. The Flight over the top was amazing and well worth doing although it was very expensive. The group I travelled up to the top of the volcano came down...More

How many people can say they stood at the edge of an active volcano! This was an amazing sight to see. If you are going to Tanna Mt Yasur needs to be on your list of things to do, you will never forget it!

You can only go with a tour. The local tribe control everything very closely. You get right to the rim, and they know which side to stand on based on how the volcano is behaving. So it's probably best all round.
