Very interesting snippet of our history. Apparently the lady who started and ran the doll business in Graaff Reinet was boycotted by the local community as the family contributed to land for Scheepers memorial. think that is correct!

This monument is ideal for a quick stop and look as well as to enjoy the view of the dam across the road. If it wasn't for the Geocache placed here I probably have missed it.

Interesting symbolism for this memorial. Had to go and read about Gideon Scheepers who was executed by firing squad at the age of 23.

A pity that the area is so littered and full of rubbish but the monument itself is so interesting and valuable to learn about as well as easy to access

A quick street side view of a well maintained monument with an information board. You don't even have to get out of the car.
