- Monica2 contributionsA place I would like to return toThe place has an extraordinary location, the people are very friendly. The room was very nice, it also had beautiful red flowers. The safari in the Crater is highly recommended, we saw the Rhino. The hotel manager Liz was very nice and very attentive, as was Chef Tara.It was an exciting experience. My husband and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to return.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2023
- Heriety AIreland9 contributionsBest Tanzania Safari with Nafika ToursThe safari tour arranged by Nafika Tours agent was exceptional in every way. Our guide, Joseph , did an amazing job at showing us the diversity and richness of the wildlife in the NgoroNgoro and Serengeti National Parks. We came face to face with elephants and lions, approached giraffes, hippos, flamingos and leopards, and spotted eagles on high trees and a rhino among a group of buffalos. Zebras, wildebeest and gazelles were a constant feature of the landscape. Among all this, Joseph mixed cultural lessons and enjoyable drives, and topped it off with a visit to a Masai village. With him we experienced everything that we hoped for and much more, including an evening surrounded by a family of lion mums and cubs, and two wildebeest river crossings among crocodiles! Lastly, the Safari vehicle and accomodations were superb, from a balcony view spanning the Serengeti to a shower under the stars, Nafika Tours made this visit to Tanzania the experience of a lifetime. High recommend to everyone.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 October 2023

- Louise6 contributionsGreat viewpoints & plenty of wildlifeAs we were reading from other travelers that the crater sometimes gets covered in clowds and does not always offer great views from the top, we hesitated if the crater hike will be worth it but eventually decided to book it and it was amazing!!! Before sunrise we got up for a quick coffee and a snack. It was quite cold so i brought liner gloves and a hat to keep warm. A ranger guided us along the crater ridge when the sun came out. It was a clear day so we had some stunning views of the crater and spotted some rhinos at a distance. It was a mostly gentle hike that takes you to some view points on your way inside the crater. The hike took about 2 hours but its not about speed but rather to embrace the atmosphere. We met our guide inside the crater where we continued our safari. Everything was perfectly orgsnized by Frank, Sabas and Deborah from Tanzania Horizon SafarisVisited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 14 October 2023
- Pity D3 contributionsNgorongoro Crater TanzaniaWe didn't know in advance what to expect from wildlife in a crater. It was an unexpected, special and wonderful experience. Here we were able to spot the black rhino that we were missing in our list of the big five :-) Our driver and guide Freddy ensured that we could take the most beautiful photos of the amazing nature and wildlife of Tanzania. We are very grateful to him for all the effort he made for us.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 October 2023
- Ranger_ofthe_NorthAbbottabad, Pakistan252 contributionsNgorongoro is a site to behold: Expansive, serene, very remote and very attractiveWe visited the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Ngorongoro Crater (or Caldera if one wishes to be geologically correct). The distance from the nearest metal road and city lodge is not much, if we measure in kilometres but by hours or by travel fatigue is significant. The views from the top of the crater are beautiful: it is impressively big, and has sifnificant presence. Tourism traffic is also a lot. Facilities for picnic or enjoying facilities for stay are quite good. One is able to stay at any of the camps or lodges. These are expensive, but worth every penny they charge. The tourist 4x4s that are in use are quite comfortable. The drivers are very civilized and co-operative. The overall tuning of the region is tourism oriented, and the experience was, all in all, very enjoyable.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 23 October 2023
- NATURE AND CULTURE EXPERIENCEArusha, Tanzania21 contributionsA place with wonders! Our guests cherished an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Ngorongoro Crater. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of wildlife and nature, they were enthralled by the diverse array of animals that called this natural wonder home. With every glance, they witnessed the harmonious coexistence of lions, elephants, zebras, and countless other species. The vast expanse of the crater provided a mesmerizing backdrop, making their safari adventure truly magical. Guided by our founder and expert guide Felix, they ventured into this ecological paradise, creating memories that will forever be etched in their hearts. The Ngorongoro Crater became more than a destination; it became a soul-stirring journey, leaving our guests in awe of the wonders of the natural world.Visited October 2023Travelled on businessWritten 28 October 2023
- Mathew MPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania7 contributionsOutstanding safari Service with the best Nafika ToursAs someone who travels extensively for work and leisure, I utilize a great deal of tours and hospitality organizations. Nafika Tours local agency based in Arusha and Moshi is the best tour agencies I have ever used. From the very beginning, Voice at Nafika Tours was quick at responding and provided a clear itinerary with transparent pricing of what was and was not included in the tour. Also, He was extremely fast at replying to any inquiry and was always very courteous, kind and professional. Upon our arrival at the airport in Tanzania, we were met by our lovely driver Joachim, He took care of every single thing for us and we felt very welcomed. The service that Joseph our safari guide demonstrated was nothing short of extraordinary. He asked what we wanted to see and made sure the tour truly was tailored for a private, personal experience. The lodging, vehicle provided, food and drinks on the tour were all incredible. Also, the amount of wildlife we saw on our tour was impressive. If you want to take a safari in Tanzania, do not waste your time—simply contact Nafika Tours for a great experience with competitive pricing.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 29 October 2023
- veronicah J6 contributionsFabulous experience with Habari AdventureMy fiancé and I booked 4days Safari with Habari Adventure, and it has been an absolutely amazing experience. He had two big goals for our first Safari and trip to Africa: see the rhino; and see the crater. Our driver/guide Hillary almost ten years of experience as a guide, fulfil all our desire and made sure we completed all two goals in just 2 days, and leaving the rest of our safari free to explore all the best places Hillary can recommend. His knowledge of the Tanzanian parks is so impressive that other guides even from other companies stop and ask him for directions and tips multiple times every day. Beyond being a great guide, Hillary is also a wonderful and caring human. It's easy to tell he cares about the animals, his clients, and everyone around him. Beyond Hillary, Habari Adventure as a whole has also been wonderful. Our first interactions were with Caroline who scheduled our trip. I have a serious food allergy and Caroline made sure that every lodge knew about my allergy and that all meals were safe for me. They also appear to provide the best service during the safaris. While others companies had their clients eating lunch on the ground, Habari provides full chairs, tables, plates/bowls, silverware, and wineglasses whereby the wine Habari included with our lunches. I may not be the most traveled person, but I've been to 9 countries on some serious adventures, and Habari Adventure is right at the top in providing the best trip experience. As an added benefit, they are truly locally owned they are not owned by a foreign family, even second generation, and all the money you spend stays in the Tanzanian economy. Always use a truly local company if you can, especially when the service is as good or better than the competition. If you're going on a safari, I truly cannot recommend Habari Adventure enough. They provide more than your expectation in any trip they organize. Highly recommended Habari Adventure for your Outdoor activities while you’re in Tanzania and never be disappointedVisited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 November 2023
- Consolata MLuxembourg City, Luxembourg8 contributionsAbsolutely RecommendedThis park is uniquely beautiful and we definitely recommend it. The views and the amount of wildlife inside the crater are simply exceptional. We saw lions (in a honeymoon), buffaloes, serval, jackals, zebras, wildebeests, ostriches, hippos, elephants, warthogs and so many other animals with exception of elusive rhinos. Thanks to our guide Beatus for his great knowledge and experience about wildlife. Thanks to Angelino Adventures for the perfect arrangement of the trip.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 November 2023

When i was started thinking about climbing Kilimanjaro i was recommended by a friend to use Ungitours and was the best decision . We did lemosho route 7days we summitted on the New Year eve but safari and Kili climb ungitours exceeded our expectation i can't recommend Ungitours enough from meeting us at the Airport to departure was superb. The Kili crew was professional without them we wouldn't reach at Uhuru Peak. They wore mask & sanitizer all the time when we reached at the camp everything was ready we ate well everybody was helping us the guide told us alot about Kilimanjaro and Tanzanoa culture.
On the summit night we were 3 guides and 5 of us everyone was supportive on that challenging night was hard but not so hard sin e we have been training and climbing mountains before.we finished our stay in Tanzania with 4dats safari in ngorongoro and serengeti was very nice we saw wildebeest in Ndutu giving birth , rhinos in ngorongoro all the bug fice we wished we had more time to spend in Serengeti great experinece with Kanti he was amazing guide very very beautiful landscape in serengeti and ngorongoro all the beautiful animals it was worthy visiting not to forget hot picnic lunches with wine and soft drinks.
Ungitours is an excellent company . Asante sana.

In early February 2021 Habari Adventure took our group of 5 safely to the summit and back again via the Lemosho route.
Our crew was so well organized, happy and cheerful. The food was plentiful and tasty (I don't know how they do it up on the mountain!). They went out of their way to help us in any way they could.
We all felt so safe and taken care of and we made to the top around sunrise.. Honestly everything was extraordinary.
For those thinking about hiking Kilimanjaro, I strongly advise to DO IT! Better yet, do it with this local company. The company sure keeps their promise and they will go with their scheduled day of departure even if there's only ONE person joining the hike
I’d definitely recommend Habari Adventure to anyone booking in the future.
After Kilimanjaro we did 3 day safari, this was also brilliant especially the Ngorongoro crater. It is difficult to describe what you feel here other that to say it is a spiritual experience. Nature here is just amazing. And to have so many different areas in one crater...it is beyond belief. We saw, lions, elephants, zebra, water buffalo, jackals, hyenas, rhino and it was breathtaking!!! I truly will miss being here and long to come back again.
To all the porters, toilet crew, waiters, cooks, assistant guides and head guide - THANK YOU.

From the view point on top- it looks like a wash basin. Stunning views and binoculars are a must to carry.
The view point and picnic place has clean toilets. Be careful at the picnic place because the birds can snatch your sandwich right out of your hand. I would recommend eating in your touring van as opposed to having an open air sit down picnic.
The game is dispersed and you can easily go round the set tracks in the hope of catching all of them. The binoculars will help for animals far from the set tracks as going off road is prohibited.
4-6 hrs is enough at the park.
If you see the rihno here ...you are lucky. Probably easier to see them here rather than the Serengeti.

Bantu Pori was immensely helpful during these uncertain times. They communicated often and were very transparent. They also made rescheduling of our safari a complete breeze and stress free. We were unable to take our trip to Tanzania last year because no flights were available due to Covid-19 country restriction.
A big shout out to our safari guide and the entire team involved for organizing our entire Tanzania Safari itinerary for us, since we were first-timers for a safari, they ensured that our trip covered what we wanted and made excellent recommendations.
Thank you so much for organizing our 7 days itinerary for Tanzania. It was a trip of a lifetime. We had a spectacular time. The game drives were exquisite and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the safari. We enjoyed Lake Manyara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire. Truly five star destinations.
The lodges/camps that you booked for us were beyond our expectations and so were the staff at each of the lodges/camps. We couldn’t have done this trip without your detailed planning, organization and expertise!! Thank you for discussing all the details with us and customizing the trip for us. We really appreciated your attention to detail and your willingness to chat with us over the phone to alleviate any of our concerns. We knew we were in good hands and that made us feel at ease throughout our trip.
Thank you for organizing this entire itinerary for us and making excellent recommendations. We hope that you and everyone at Bantu Pori are staying safe during these difficult times.
Absolutely fabulous customer service even in a time of such uncertainty, I am so pleased we booked with you!!

This trip was planned for 4 months because of the holidays, it was no mistake that we chose Habari Adventure for our first trip to Tanzania. Thanks to Habari Adventure they real went through this with us and made our dreams come true!
Stan the man, gave very good suggestions on our itinerary, always responded fast to all our enquiries which made us worry-free before the trip.
We could see the big fives, great migration, riving crossing and all wanted animals during the trip. Our tour guide Hillary helped us capture all the special moments of the animals & birds. He drove us to the most appropriate positions to see the animals and take the photos. He provided much information about the wildlife. He further fine-tuned our plan based on actual situation so that we could enjoy our safari with good weather and amazing sunrise.
Hillary took good care of us during the whole trip, hot lunch every day. He listened to our needs patently and tried to meet it. All of us give him 5 star” rating same as for Habari Adventure.
One thing made us feel impressive and warm was that we mentioned one kind of soft drink was good, Hillary prepared it for us for the whole trip. We needed hot water during game drive, he would coordinate with hotels to prepare for us. Every little thing counted for much.
Particular highlights were seeing many lions and elephants in the Serengeti, witnessing the great migration of the wildebeests, and the absolutely gorgeous drive through the ngorngoro crater, as well as hunting with the bushmen tribesmen and learning about their life. Highly recommend Habari Adventure and Hillary for your dream of Safari!
I would highly recommend this trip to everyone!
Big love to my guides for this trip and I’m definitely coming back!

We left our hotel in Arusha in our Dolphin Tours & Safaris 4x4 Land Cruiser for a 2 day trip at 07:30 in the morning to Tarangere National park and Ngorongoro Crater with an overnight in a lodge on the rim of the crater. After a beautiful ride through Tarangere National park spotting elephants, Masai giraffes, impala’s, and many other animals, we stopped at the picnic area to have lunch.
After lunch, we proceeded towards our lodge located on the Ngorongoro crater rim.
We stopped at a viewpoint and were blown away by the view of the crater with a beautiful sunset as a bonus.
The next day we went down into the crater and we could not believe our eyes; within half an hour we spotted lions, rhino’s and herds of elephants thanks to the trained eyes of our excellent driver, guide and spotter, Vincent. The variety of animals and species that we have seen there is truly unbelievable and makes the Ngorongoro crater a unique place to visit not to be compared with any other place I’ve seen so far in Africa. The crater is very green at this time of the year (rain season) which makes it easy to see every animal from quite a close distance because there is plenty of grass for them to eat. After lunch at one of the picnic areas along a little lake with hippo’s swimming around, we set course back to our hotel in Arusha with the impression that we had just awakened from a dream!
I can’t thank Dolphin Tours & Safaris enough for this magical experience and the perfect organization. I can really recommend these guys to everyone. And to Vincent; our driver, guide and spotter: you are the best!

On reflection this trip didn’t really live up to my expectations, I’d do want to visit. The view from the entrance on the rim is simply breathtaking, a view that will stay with me forever. The road into the park is incredible and not for the faint hearted, the descent is awesome, very pleased I wasn’t driving!
Once inside we saw lots of groups on wildebeest and buffalo, also a couple of groups of elephants, but I think that we’d been spoiled by our time on the Serengeti. It really only warranted a half day and we ended up leaving earlyish as there were huge groups of trucks racing to see anything of interest.
I was glad to see that they’ve laid a proper road on the way out.

Our Guide Robert , Mohamed, John and Saimon all the guides were knowledgeable and helping all the time we were in contact with the team they wore mask and sanitizer we loved how operation procedures was observed all the 7days of Machame Route we could make to summit bacause our guides were very helping us to adopt step according to the level of acclimatization to give the best chance to reach the summit at the best shape and we did. Porters and chef were extremely wonderful people they never tie to dance and sing the Kili hakuna matata song it kept us going , great food especially when we knew it was carried all way by porters. The experience of visiting Ngorogoro is quite unique and one you need to absorb.
After going through the main gate you climb through rain forests with wonderful views back over the approach and come to the view point, a panorama of the whole caldera. It’s breakingly beautiful and so massive.
The main gate merely gets you onto the road towards Serengeti and the road after the view point takes you around the edge of the caldera to a second gate allowing you, and dozens of other vehicles down into the caldera floor.
Do read up about life down there before you go, so you are aware what is, and is not there. We spent surreal hours there, keeping to the roads and picnic area. Lots of Wildebeest giving birth, zebra, different antelope, hyena, elephants and several lion plus array of birds. It’s a great location to experience life among such a diverse group of animals.
It’s a vast area but the day we visited was after heavy rains and it did rain as we were leaving. Guides have a communication system so you get to know where key animals are. Rhino were sighted of far side from where we were so we set off to see them. But roads were flooded, vehicles in from trapped in floods and mud and had to rescued so a large area was inaccessible and we missed the rhino.
It’s a wonderful place. We were purely let down by very wet conditions

Sans doute à l’entrée du parc, en demandant aux véhicules qui entrent mais je ne suis pas certain .

I am looking to travel to ngorogoro crater next year (Covid permitting) with my entire family there will be 15 of us including many toddlers. Are there any lodges or activities that anyone recommends. I would like somewhere with a pool preferably and a large house or a few smaller units are great, the key is a family friendly property.
Thank you in advance.

We will come from Serengeti 9/17 and wish to see Ngornogoro 9/18. is this possible? Can we see crater in a one day tour?
Written 25 August 2019
Yes you can. The crater is easily done in good half a day.

Where is closest to stay for the crater?
Written 7 June 2019
At least five lodges and maybe one or two camps are located on the crater rim. The first lodge from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area gate is Rhino Lodge near the crater overlook. It doesn't offer a view into the crater being on the other side of the rim. At the overlook if one turns right the Sopa Lodge is some eleven or so miles away. If one bears to the left at the overlook the Crater Serena, and two other lodges are located. Don't have my map right handy so I can not tell you distance. I believe the one tented camp is closer to the Sopa.
If one is approaching the crater from the Serengeti then the Serena would be the closest rim lodge and the Sopa would be the furthest. A good guide book should have a map showing these lodges.

Hi Ali, it might be difficult due to all paperwork that needs to be processed and even perhaps for security reasons. You might be better off by maybe paying a bit more, but being hosted and transferred by professionals will bring you an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend the LEMALA group for this purpose, you will surely enjoy it...!
Thank you for asking and wish you enjoy your trip as much as I did...!
