Teluk Ijo (Green Bay) was the sole destination when I visited Meru Betiri. It took 3 hours driving from Banyuwangi, through bumpy plantation road. Afterward, you may choose to walk to the beach (additional 3 km) or taking the boat for another 5 minutes (fee is IDR 35,000). Try to arrive earlier in the day, as it may get more... More

After a long and uncomfortable 4WD ride over bumpy roads you finally arrive in the ranger station at Sukumade beach. The guesthouse is very basic, no A/C, no mosquito nets (but mosquitos were not all that bad). At eight o'clock you go to the beach with rangers. There are strict rules, no lights, quiet, etc. and that's good. On the... More

I like to travel to Meru Bertiri National Park. Especially visiting Sukamade Turtle Conservation. Ride 4WD Jeep from Jajag residence to Meru Bertiri National park was amazing adventure experience. Seeing the local people make palm sugar and also crossing river with Jeep and surround by wild Buffalo. In the night explore the forest to see wild animal such deer and... More

Difficult Access to get in, especially when you start from Pesanggaran, All Of Sorrow And Pain Was Paid By Beautiful Jungles And Sound Of Bird And Nature (They Said That There Is Peacock Life There). The Only Suggestion Is Never Use Matic Motorcycle, use Tall One. Since My Experience Ended by I broke my Matic Motorcycle.

Having been at the eastern beaches of Meru Betiri National Park we sought out Bandealit beach at its western border too. Unfortunately we planned only one day because we did not bring camping gear. Whereas the area deserves more time for exploration and we found out too late that there is accommodation available. The beach is part of a wide... More

The trip to Sukamade Beach was special in every way. Our very friendly and good english speekig guide Fendy (fendyijen at gmail dot com) organised everything to a very reasonable price (much cheaper than the one from the hotel). At the park we felt directly in love with the baby turtles and we were impressed seeing a grown-up ones lying... More

Meru Betiri National Park is huge. Most visitors come for Sukamade turtle beach, which is listed as a separate attraction. On our way back from Sukamade we spent a morning at Teluk Hijau (Green Bay). It takes some effort to reach the bay, but then you are well rewarded. Especially if like us you come on a weekday in the... More

We organised a trek through the MB National Park, but when we arrived we were informed the tracks were closed.... check carefully before coming... but if the tracks are open this would be a great hike I'm sure. Accommodation is primitive but normal for this part of the world.... the Turtle hatchery is a must if you visit...

This place is very rich cause it has many kind of plantations and benefit plants or trees, around 1200 hectare width which has an active plantation such as rubber, coffee. So, Dutch had discovered it in 1972 for taking the natural richness of this place. Sukomade is Natural Resource Conservation in East java which incharges the propagation of turtles. If... More
