It's one of the special burial places in Tanja Tora area in the basic all places are the same they bury the people in a wall the rich people a make a poppet of the dead person.

Our first sighting of Tau Tau - really fascinating to see. Look for the carver's shop when walking to see the rock graves. Not sure how easy it would be to get here if you don't have a driver to bring you though.

Grat monring opportunity to see traddtional place in character with mountainous hosts . Lots to do and intesting passing time thinking about the previous generations of hosts there

Marante is a village where several Tongkonan House, big paddy barns around rocky hills with hanging stone graves called "Erong" exist.

Like many of the sites in Toraja its a most interesting area with the focus being the hanging cemeteries and the Tau Tau - the doll replica's of those interred in the coffins hanging from the cliffs. The village is easy to get to and...More
