Technically, this is a stupa not a pagoda, because you can't enter it--it is a kind of "tomb." But it is the largest and richest, and most spectacular vision of gold I have seen anywhere in Southeast Asia

We were fortunate to have an outstanding guide who took us to the outstanding artefacts and was able to give us the appropriate information to make the visit worth while. So much splendour!

The temple was constructed where the relics of Buddha arrived. It could have been a port city during early periods. Location is beautiful and we waited for sunset and it was great

It was the farthest destination by my bicycle, but it was worth to visit! I could have the beautiful sunset and great river view. It felt less touristy and more local.

A mostly local crowd here. Excellent views of the river and beyond. Not a lot of shade so perhaps better to visit earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon.

We visited Lawkananda on the day before the Full Moon Festival, so there were many local tourists, but almost no Western tourists. The atmosphere was lively, and the stupa is attractive, with a riverside location. You can also see the former umbrella from the top...More
