While the statue itself is interesting it is nothing special but the surrounding small market and beach are enjoyable. The seafood in the nearby restaurants is very good and recommend one of the small ones along the beach road.

The Mermaid Statue is right on one end of the Samila beach. Lots of souvenir and food shops and stalls along the beach leading to this Mermaid statue. On the beach, there are locals offering pony services and photo taking. We spent about 1 hour or so on this beach and yes, one need to be careful while going up... More

Visited the Samila beach late afternoon in October and it was very busy with lots of Thai tourists visiting the area. Hard to get a photo of the statue as so many people on the statue taking photos. However very pretty beach with horse rides for the kids. Lot's of stalls selling street food and souvernirs.

Visited it on a rainy day. We thought this to be Holland?? Sitting pretty by the breach, the sea breeze gently rolls the waves of the sea, reaching the sitting mermaid. We took a few close up photos, , a word of caution, the rocks leading to this can be very slippery. Two Thai cowboys came with their pony &... More

It's one of those to tick off when in Songkhla. Reminds of Copenhagen, perhaps this is for South East Asia. Get some sand under your feet.

We never going near to the statue because its near the sea, the wind is strong and the wave is too big, really dangerous to the family with really young children. But its a wonderful experience though and they have a lot of attraction nearby

Ok..the mermaid statue is a statue..get the obligatory photo then head off for the leisurely stroll along the local stalls for food and shopping. We loved the pork satays at THB 15 each. Avoid the chickn satays. The coconut ice creams and sweet green mango with chillie flakes are too good

We stopped here a moment for the scenery and breathtaking view. It was really hot and sunny, the sand warmed my feet I couldn't leave my shoes to enjoy it. But the view is paradise.
