About
Relax on the spotlessly white sand and swim in the clear waters of Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana, a popular resort town where you can enjoy refreshing cocktails and taste the mouth-watering Dominican food. Take a boat tour of Bavaro to snorkel among the reefs and discover the natural pools on the eastern edge of the beach.
You can book a seafront resort (many of which have casinos on site) to make the most of your trip. Visit the water parks in the area to play and swim with dolphins in the open sea.

- Ian APickering, Canada8 contributionsRoyalton BavaroIt is a beautiful resort with lots to do for kids, kids pool with slides and lazy river were popular with the kids. Beach was beautiful with lots of seating. We were there for a week family trip. We had an unfortunate start; our flight was 5 hours late. We were a group of 13 with 6 grandkids aged 10 months to 12, when we arrived, I told them we were diamond club but were still directed to the regular check-in where we waited for 20 minutes while the group in front checked in. Once they verified, we were diamond club we were taken to the diamond club registration where we were treated like kings. There was a small buffet, we were offered drinks, and someone took our documents and went away to complete the paperwork while we had another drink. Our rooms were great, very large and comfortable. Buffet restaurants were great, we seemed to have some difficulty in getting an early reservation for the a la cart restaurants. I believe they are still rebuilding staff after COVID. Twice at dinner we were told they had no highchairs, I don't think the staff knew where to get them, because there were many children at the resort who would need one. Although we had trouble getting an early dinner reservation (we needed one for the younger kids) we were not always seated together and there were empty tables. Believe this was caused by a lack of staffing. The outdoor pools were all great, 2 with swim up bars, and 1 for the diamond club. Although the diamond club has access to different areas the other areas were great, and we used both. I would look at the price difference for the diamond club if I were to return. .Visited November 2022Written 4 December 2022

This trip the entire length of the beach was one big pilke of seaweed. - Mike M34 contributionsSuper soft sand!Bavaro Beach has some of the most wonderful sand in the world. However, Sargasso is washing up on shore here like it is throughout the Caribbean. The hotels keep their beaches pretty clear but stretches without hotels have a lot of Sargasso. Windier and wavier this visit then we remember in the past.Visited December 2022Written 8 December 2022

Very peaceful and relaxing. I would recommend you take like half a day to sit at the beach and relax. You will find lots of water based activities to make the day even better.Visited December 2022Written 8 January 2023
- Lily TravelGirlMiami Beach, Florida256 contributionsBest beach in Punta CanaBeautiful beach with many all-inclusive resorts for all price range. Best beach in Punta Cana area. Warm clear calm water and soft white sand. Slightly windy enough for sailing and other water sports. The only downside is the seaweeds during late summer months. Our favorite resort located in the best section of this beach is Barcelo Bavaro Palace.Visited December 2022Written 13 January 2023
- 4minuuToronto, Canada166 contributionsOne of the best beaches in the CaribbeanWe stayed at the Dreams in Punta Cana and loved it. Our walks at sunrise was the highlight of my days there! They clean the seaweed away by machine 2-3 times a day. Beautiful soft sand and flat. Great for jogging!Visited January 2023Written 19 January 2023
- Life Is GoodBonita Springs, Florida13 contributionsRoyal club Occidential Punta CanaWow, this resort never lets us down. Hippolito, Wendy, Ruben and Nairobi and a few new servers Miguelina, Stacy and Johan ready and waiting for you. and let’s not forget the Chef Carlos Mattia . The food is the best and healthiest menu of all the resorts we’ve traveled to. nice to see Yeremy in the Oriental and Vladimir in the Steakhouse & a pleasure to see Jon Kelly who over sees all the restaurants. The beach is the best. no seaweed and crystal clear blue water. Our 1-bdrm ocean view is awesome! Thank you Aris. Willy Bruno is the best bartender here.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 January 2023

My only complaint is that it was a little hard to get dinner reservations at the time that we wanted to eat. But, the buffet was always a walk-in option and it was great. I would highly recommend a visit here.Visited January 2023Written 31 January 2023
- Carolyn AGatineau, Canada26 contributionsBest beach for walking.Love this beach and visit it every year. The sand is like powder and going barefoot is a must. There is seaweed to deal with though. And long stretches of all inclusives thus reducing the numbers of accessible restaurants and bars. The weather is excellent.Visited January 2023Written 8 February 2023
- tomtrudeauWare, Massachusetts22 contributionsBeautiful endless beach!Walk for miles and miles ! White and pink sand , very soft and sugary ! The beach seams endless, the water was warm and very few people trying to grab you to buy trinkets— they are around but not pushy! Plenty of places to stop and get a drink or water or eats! Just beautiful!Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 February 2023

We stayed in Occidental Punta Cana. Bavaro Beach is absolutely gorgeous. Soft white sand, super clean. Crystal clear water. The surf can be strong so be aware if you are not a strong swimmer or confident in the water. The beach back drop is beautiful too. There are beach sellers but these are very polite & friendly and only engage if you show interest. There is beach security if you are concerned but we didnt have any issues and left our bag by our sunbeds when we went into the sea or pool or went for a walk with no problems.

Love this resort. All the staff are friendly and hard workers. Place was beautiful. Pool and ocean were beautiful. Like the tram between two resorts. The ladies that work at Bohio and Mamey bar are wonderful. Thanks for a great holiday. Will be back.

Lovely beach but from all hotels it does need access for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Difficult to get the above onto the beach without access. Not fair people miss out on the beach

Any 4 and higher star rated resort in the playa Bavaro area is my favorite. We have been to 8 different resorts in the area. Our absolute favorite is Barcelo Bavaro Palace. The reason is that playa Bavaro is sheltered by an offshore Reef. The waters are calm and the beaches pure white sand. I especially go to resorts that have free catamaran rentals. The beach is about 10 miles wide and maybe 1 mile out. This makes the beach the most desirable in the Punta Cana area. Most of the beaches are lined with palm trees.

Poor communication. Very poor. Dated room and we are in premium plus. Great view but ends there. Bath and shower combined with toilet beside. Wrist band swipe for door but works like crap. Nice ground’s restaurants same problem with communication food ok but never hot. Compared to Mexico Barcelo this place is a joke especially not worth premium plus after being in Mexico where they do it the way it should be. Can’t express how bad the premium plus is here. Never coming here again and would not recommend to anyone

Hello Kevin sorry for the late response. There is a lot of seaweed all year round on this side of the island. So not possible to swim most of the time. The problem is that all the beaches are private and that the hotels, resorts, recover with a tractor every early morning all these algae which they reject a little further on the few small ends of the island accessible only for the Dominicans. It is a place with a lot of insecurity where corruption reigns, drug problems, gratuitous attacks more and more common with stones, pistols or machetes, even wild ambushes or home jacking. If you are white you are regularly threatened everywhere on the island, for small things and not to mention the street vendors who harass you or are on the lookout for the right moment for the pick pocket. Dominicans are most of time very lazy and don't mingle with you because they consider you outcasts or they want to take advantage of you with a smile and a knife behind their back. They are racist, espacially towards the poor Haitians wha are fleeing the violence and whom they use as slaves to do their dirty work. A place to avoid for a few decades unfortunately. People are violent, deceitful and treacherous. We will never set foot on this island again. We recommend Madagascar or Sri Lanka, which is much more tolerant, pleasant and magnificent.

Hola! Bavaro en Punta Cana es como lo que buscas, pero está copada por hoteles All Imclusive. Hacia el norte, unos 15’ en auto tenes Playa Los Corales. Muy linda y con bares y restaurantes por la zona. Tranquila y hermosa arena. Playa dominucus está cerca de La Romana. Linda, también con muchos hoteles.

Hi ! What part of the beach is the most beautiful ? (Clean, calm water, white sand, palm trees ....) Going for the first time with a 5 years old kid, and we don't know what hotel to pick. Beach is the most important for us.
There are 20 + hotels and all of them are advertising their location as Bavaro Beach.

Pretty much all of bavaro beach is really nice, depending on season there can be a seafood problem of sargassum it’s a really annoying seaweed but the whole carribean has been suffering from it last 4 years. This Saturday was pretty good the weed was minimal. But I stay in the Los corales area of the beach so it’s become my favorite. Good luck with your travels.

Hi, planning to go to PC late april 2022. Melia or bahia principe. Will the seaweed be a big problem like in Mexico ? Or my toddlers will still be able to play in the water w/o the smell ? Sorry for the redondant question, but we dont want to waste 6k for no beach :(

I think that those big chains have placed nets around their beaches to stop seaweed from coming up to the shore. Thanks for asking and have a nice holiday season!

I read a comment that you are only allowed to walk ghe Beach but private access is limited to sunbathe, as resorts prevent access. Is the beach public, and can you set up chairs under a tree and sunbathe?

As long as you can find public access to the beach you are fine. Obviously if you are not staying at a hotel, they will not let you cut through their property which makes sense. Not sure where there is public access though.
