If you visit Petra by day, there is nothing special by night. It is ten minute event, but during ticket sale, it has been anounced two hours event. 1/2 hour walk to get in between the candles, ten minute local music, 1/2 hour return back....More

Though lit by hundreds (thousands?) of candles along the way, it is a rocky road and it would be wise to bring a flashlight as well as water. It is an almost 2 mile walk in the semi-dark. When you get to the Treasury you...More

nice to see the luminarias on the way, nice to see the accumulation of them at the base of Petra. The music is OK, the finale is simply green light on the red rocks. I understand green is special to Muslims, but perhaps green and...More

Having paid for this tour, we kind of missed it as we spent longer further along in the site. We did however enjoy the candle-lit treasury and walk back to the gate. We were too tired to stay but did not consider having paid to...More

Really disappointing... You will see a 2 min music show, you will hear a 2 min story and you will pay 17 JOD... You will see the Treasury not illuminated and they will only put light on the last 15 minutes before you are pushed...More

It is obviously a scam. The show wasn't impressive plus you'll have to walk 4 km, you would not miss anything. Save the energi and money and spend them somewhere else.

Go to Petra by Night! It was a great experience, almost magical! You have the unique opportunity to see The Treasury at night only with light of candles and stars while having tea and appreciating a native music show.

I went to Petra at night and while it was nice, it wasn't as amazing as I had expected. The luminaries that light the path are nice and it is cool to see them lined up in front of the treasury but the treasury isn't...More

Petra By Night is not worth the time, effort, or cost. If there was some reason you could only see Petra at night, then it's better than not seeing it at all, of course, but if you're going to spend the day visiting this Wonder...More

Once inside Petra during the day time, can I stay inside until the 'Petra by Night' show begins in the night? Or am I required to exit the sight after the sunset and then enter all the way again?!! I will have purchased the ticket for the show before entering in the day time.. in case only the ticket holders are allowed to stay inside..?

I apologize for the late response but you will certainly have to exit and pay to return. They are two separate events that both require payment to enter.

Can you purchase your ticket at the Petra Visitor Center just before the tour? I have the option of purchasing through Viator, but it is more expensive. I have read there are unlimited tickets and can be purchased at the Visitor Center just prior to entering. What do you suggest. Thanks!

Yes, you can purchase just before, BUT what a tacky show. You will see nothing of Petra either on the walk in (in the dark over uneven, rough and sandy surfaces - 1.5 km). The Treasury will be lit only with candles placed... More

My sister and I are visiting Petra in mid-October and will be seeing the site both in the day and at night. I would like to know the distance between the Treasury and the closest important structure. Are there good paths for seniors, that's us, to walk comfortably? As for the night show, I was wondering whether there is any seating in the area where the candles are lit up as squatting on the floor wouldn't be easy. Also, I'm afraid of the desert ants that can sting you badly. And, how long does it take to cover the entire length of the Siq from the entrance? I would be glad if someone can answer these queries. Thanks

From the entrance to siq takes more or less half an hour by walk (one way). However, you can opt to ride via horse, donky or camel but with extra fee, and I guess very expensive. And yes, just stay at the usual pathway which... More
