Gazing upon the Treasury for the first time is a moment akin to the initial sighting of the Giza pyramids, Angkor Wat, or the Taj Mahal. So famous from photographs and celebrated in travel brochures, the Treasury exceeds expectations. Perhaps that's because of its fame, enigma, size, color -- or that it first appears as a glimpse through a narrow... More

A breath-taking view of the treasury after a long walk through the Siq. It was a sunny December and the walk, though long was not difficult. This was especially interest to think that it was built between the 3rd century BC and the 1st Century AD.

Thebest way you can see it is to not look direct, our guide really surprised us on his way by taking out attention on an elephant curfed on the wall... then he said "Hey look here" then we were like shocked first time to see it .. its not like pictures or shows you have to see it.

Worth stopping before you enter just to enjoy "chink" view of Treasury through the rock. If you want a photo without lots of tourists/horses/donkeys etc - I found the site was almost empty by 4pm.

this is not the best part of Petra, here is more than this. It's fun to take the carts, try to keep the horses with less work during hot weather, too harsh on them, walk instead. The monastery is after this, prepare your self for a long hike up, it is so much fun! Merchants will say one dollar, one... More

Ali was a fabulous, English speaking and highly knowledgeable tour guide for our family visiting from India. Coming in, we were just aware of the Petra treasury but he showed us the entire valley expertly and scaled heights that we weren't even aware existed. He had exceptional photography skills and was happy to take dozens of pictures of our family... More

I have always wanted to visit Jordan to see Petra. I must say that after going to Egypt, Petra was not as impressive as I thought it would be. Maybe if I would have gone to Petra first I would have a different opinion. I wish that I would have spent that extra time in Egypt. Should everyone see it?... More

I have been to Petra more than 3 times and I still like going there every time I find myself near the area. Walking all the way is an excellent workout to those into hiking and footage is amazing. You can ask to get a guide if you are with a big group but I personally stick with the written... More

We bought tickets earlier in the afternoon at the Visitors Centre, then met at the appointed time and walked in with the crowd to the candlelit area in front of the Treasury. We sat on the rugs that were provided and simply absorbed the history until the simple, live instrumental music started. They served tea to everyone and then the... More
