Part of our Gp tour itinerary for the day lunch. Asahikawa Ramen Village gives you 8 of Asahikawa's most well known ramen shops in one location. And each shop offering an assortment of ramen varieties, making a choice can prove surprisingly difficult.
The place is not too easily accessible by public transport and we reached around 12 noon via coach. To make things easier and time-saving our tour leader make a reservation call early so we got to try out (only) one of the Ramen stall. It was Ramen Ishida!
We were seated closely, as in all traditional Ramen stall, with some views facing the chef preparing the food. Asahikawa is known for their shoyu (soy sauce) soup with a thin layer of oil. The owner specially prepared a set for us; Ramen + 6 gyoza & an onsen egg cost only 1300 Yen. The noodles used are Chinese style wheat, a little on the harder side, and the toppings include typical green onions, a slice of pork and bamboo shoots.
It was an interesting and nice dining experience and we will not be disappointed! Do spend time exploring the neighbouring buildings for shopping too.

Eating ramen on a cold day, you can't go wrong with that. Plenty of ramen shops to choose from. There are menus outside each shop, so it makes things easier for people. Inside, the sitting area is decent enough. Size wise, it's about the same for all shops. You are spoilt for choice as there are a variety of ramen and side dishes to choose from. It can be pretty packed if you were to come during peak hours especially lunch time. You can take a sneak peak at each shop if you want. Give it a try, if you love your ramen.

A place with selection of ramen shops? Of course I’m game for it ! There isn’t really much to the place other than 8 ramen shops. We selected 2 to try out and they were good. There’s some shops and malls nearby like UNIQLO, Toys r’ us , and others. Otherwise visit only if you are a ramen fan .

Like what most people said, out of the way but having a Uniqlo for after food shopping is good. Ramen is ramen. Tasty but salty

We thought this would be nice place for lunch but all it is one building in a shopping centre car park with 5-6 ramen restaurants in it.
Nothing special. The one we tried was fine. Some were busy and people lined up but I think it’s an over sell to call this Ramen Village. Go to any flagged ramen place to save the drive.

I wouldn’t give this as must place to visit if you hv limited time. There are plenty of ramen outlets for you to choose. When I came for dinner, there are not many people as probably due to low season. This place is created by government for tourist purposes, local seldom come here. Good thing is this place located nearby Asahikawa-Shi Uniqlo which is famous clothing chainstore in Japan. If you like shopping, you can kill 2 birds in 1 stone

There is nothing as good as a cup of ramen when it's cold and snowy outside. There are several shops in the village, I chose Tenkin, it had less waiting time than others and the ramen was good. Asahikawa ramen is very characteristic and it is really worth stopping by the ramen village.

The ramen I had at one of the shops here was some of the best ramen I have had so far. It was very flavorful. It was nice that everyone could go to different shops to get the kind of ramen they wanted.

I got the shoyu ramen from Aoba which tasted superb! It was such a comfort food though. I began to start falling asleep in the car for the next journey. Thank god I was not driving.

Hi,
Given that there are so many ramen shops to choose from here, what are the must-trys? Thanks!

So sorry for such a late reply.
You might be back from the trip but I answer for future visitors.
Best taste may be different by our back ground and taste.
So i strongly recommend Aoba because this ramen restaurant has history of 60 years and is the origin of Asahikawa style noodle.
So with billions of ramen shop in Japan this restaurant is what you could have there and not else where. So i recommend Aoba.
