Quick walk, pretty views
Apr 2021 • Family
Looking for a quick walk and not afraid of steps ... pretty walk up to the now disused Crookhaven Lighthouse. Overlooking the rocks at low tide, clear views from Orient Point, Greenwall Point, Seven Mile Beach through to Penguin Head. Lots of rock fishing happening during low tide ...hope they were biting!

Interesting short walk
Jan 2021
It was an interesting short walk through bush, over grassland and rocks. 10-15 min walk from car park. The light house was the shorted light house I’d even seen. Small house with viewing platform/lighthouse on roof. The view and walk were good.

great views

gorgeous spot with a relatively easy walking track - some steps with no handrails. The actual lighthouse is so bad!! Very disappointing as just a pole with a light which gave us a good giggle but very good views from there and fun to explore around the little island

Great walk up from town
Sep 2020 • Couples
We walked from the other end of Penguin Head Rd, along the road there and back along the beach. All up it was about a two hour walk, roughly 10km.

The lighthouse isn’t much to look at but the views up there and aLong the way are lovely.

Most of the walk is flat apart from the last bit from where the road ends. Not too many stairs but some of them are a bit steep and if you’re unsteady on your feet, make sure you’ve got a walking stick or a companion 😊

Lovely and scenic
Apr 2020 • Couples
This a great walk. It is short and scenic with great points to stop and look at the waves or spot dolphins.
Dogs are welcome on a leash. There are also picnic tables by the car park with great views.
Worth a visit particularly if you are new to the area.

Be mindful of children's safety.
Nov 2019 • Family
My partner and I took our 10 month old out to the headland. I had never been there before but my partner use to live in the area and suggested rather than walking to the lighthouse, going around on the rocks of the headland.
Well if you choose to do this definitely be mindful of your child's age, weather conditions, tide, appropriate shoes, and risk factors of the rocks. As climbing across the rocks on the east side can be done but not with a child.

Nice coastal walk to old lighthouse ruins
Oct 2019
This is an easy walk - just a few steps down to get there, then back up - on a lovely little headland. Could do it on its own (only need 45 minutes max, unless you want to take your time), or combine with a walk along the beach and/or river for a longer coastal hike.

Memory Lane.... not June 2019
Jun 2019 • Solo
I was somewhat disappointed to read the reviews here as they relate to the condition of the Lighthouse. As a teenager in the mid 1960's I was very familiar with the lighthouse and its history. One of my best mates was the son of the then "Lighthouse Keeper". On many occasions we used to go over the isthmus and play around the light and indeed go up into the area where the light and glass lantern were still intact. It has almost certainly gone now, but behind the Keeper's house was a garage like structure called the "Rocket Shed". Inside was all the equipment required to conduct rescue operations should a vessel founder on the Headland......... thank heavens for memories.

Nice views, but not a very impressive lighthouse
Apr 2019 • Friends
The walk to the lighthouse is quite steep, and took around 10-15 minutes to get to the top. The views of the surrounding coastline were great, but the lighthouse itself was a bit of a disappointment.

Nice walk
Mar 2019 • Couples
We recently completed this walk, it was a bit wet as it had rained earlier in the morning and there was a few places with ankle deep water. Lovely walk with a few look out points, you can also walk along the rocks when returning to the car.
