There is a fee for admission, and it's well worth it. There's a lot of knowledgeable docents who can answer questions. The botanical garden meanders through a hilly terrain, and has different areas devoted to different regions/countries based on the climate. There are benches to sit...More

Loved the amazing variety of plants. Laid out by country. Needs many visits to take it all in. Parking can be a challenge. Likewise the terrain if you're not up for walking uphill. Gardens are fully accessible however.

This is a wonderful site, but I found the plantings to be a bit overgrown in places. The cactus/succulent area is nicely done. Tucked into the hills behind UCB, I would have like a bit better maintenance.

I particularly liked the setting (up in the hills) and the redwood grove. There is a fantastic selection of plants, trees, shrubs and I was fascinated by all the cacti.

This is a magical place. I went on a rainy day and didn't notice the rain. The tour guide was knowledgeable, providing all sorts of details about the geometrical shapes that we can find in plants (the tour was about that subject). The tour lasted...More

A great garden to wonder, explore, contemplate, and relax. There is also a little amphitheater among beautiful redwood trees, hosting music programs in the summer. Delightful.

I enjoy visiting the UC Botanical Gardens at Berkeley to see the plants from various regions. I also enjoy very much the occasional sales they have of plants - sometimes exotics that you can obtain as house plants.
