This is a garden that I visit several times a year to see what's new each season.. The garden is divided into plantings from different climate regions in California. Lots of native plants. A real treat.

This is a partially disabled accessible local park. There are some nice plantings, and a few views. The creek is running in wet years like this one.

I suspect that more visitors go to the UC Berkeley botanical garden than to this garden specializing in the plants of California. This one is a gem. I like strolling the paths to look at all the native plants from different parts of the state....More

Go early in the morning before the sun gets too high in the sky. The garden opens at 8:30 or so. We went in late March, so there wasn't that much colour. Families with kids start to arrive after 11:00 but that's not a problem.

Both of the Botanical Gardens in Berkeley are excellent, the university one and this Regional Parks one. Very, very crowded and well used. Lots of great trails. Good for the entire family.

Tilden is usually nice and cool on hot summer days. It's great for short hikes. I like to take friends, and hike and sit for conversation rather than sitting at Starbucks or my kitchen table all day. Lovely! I've gone here many times over the...More

In the summer they have periodic evening concerts set in a beautiful outdoor redwood grove. A magical place to spend an evening. They also have periodic opportunities for plant advice from master gardeners. You can even bring in a leaf from a sick plant for...More
