We visited Big Bear in mid February. As we live in LA and can't enjoy snow here..We decide to spend the long weekend there. It was worth of all our efforts. The roads are pretty good and the snow is cleaned all the time. We had to chain our wheels as it was mentioned as a warning sign. The lake... More

While in California we drove up to big bear lake to check out the snow, the drive there and back was slow but worth it the kids had the time of their lives in the snow, the scenery up there is beautiful.

Check the road conditions before you go, especially in the winter. Just internet search Big Bear road conditions. If the roads are clear, then go. It's only a if couple hours from LA, Orange Co., and San Diego. You can sleep in 'til 10 and still get there in time for lunch and the outdoor activity of your choice, be... More

Had great fun with the family and some family friends visiting us. It had snowed the previous night and we saw all the houses and vehicles covered in snow. A nice experience for all of us especially for the children who saw snow for the first time.

Great fun in both summer and winter with fishing, boating, both snow and water skiing, backpacking and day hiking. There are a number of hotels in different price ranges. There are also two hostels in town. Dining choices are many and they range from fine dinning to fast food. I like to hike and backpack and the Pacific Crest Trail... More

My husband and I live in Palm Desert and have been escaping to Big Bear in the summertime for more than 10 years. We usually go in August, which is the perfect time. For the most part the weather is sunny and beautiful. Gets down to the 40's (sometimes upper 30's) at night. It can warm up to the mid... More

We have never timed it but I think it is only about a half hour or so drive around the Lake. Always nice and relaxing. Been on Lake tour and driving tour. Every time we are up there we usually drive around the whole Lake even if we are only up there for the day it will make you feel... More

If you're ever near this area and never experienced Snow before...this is a place you must visit. It was the first time for our relatives and they were mesmerized. It started snowing on us and it was a great experience. There's an area were the kids can slide down...they loved it. The only thing we didn't like this town is... More
