Cissbury Ring is a chalk hill with 360 degree views across the South Downs, The Weald, across to Brighton & Seven Sisters and even the Isle of Wight. Very ancient history, with the remains of Neolithic flint mines on the SW side, and Iron Age ramparts that gave the hill the 'Ring' suffix. Second only to Maiden Castle in size.... More

Lulled into a false sense of security by the gradual climb up, it was a bit of a shock to find the peak was very steep. But was it worth all the grunting and groaning? Oh yes! Beautiful views and so quiet. Gave the feeling that you were the only people in the world. Lots of space for dog walking... More

Visited here on a gorgeously warm day. Plenty of routes to choose from with spectacular views across the South downs. The main chalk path isn't too difficult but not suitable for the disabled. Also, there's very little shelter from the rain. Parked about two miles away - limited parking.

Spur of the moment walk round Cissbury Ring. On our doorstep but have never been before. Will definitely be going again. Shame about lack of space in the car park though.

Good walking land, with many dog owners using the area. Fabulous views and nice for a summer picnic or a long stroll on warm summer nights.

I have been familiar with this impressive site for many years. It is in the care of the National Trust and access is free at all times, although car parking is very limited so at busy times it is best to walk to it. Being 600 feet high in the South Downs there are many pleasant walks in the vicinity... More
