This trail is amazing. Starting at 10,000 feet you are already in the mountains. Altitude can be a problem, so be careful and read up about preparing even if just walking a mile or so.

This must be one of the most beautiful Sierra hikes and certainly gives you a huge bang for your buck. The first half mile or so is steep as you climb over the basin brim, but most of it is cut rock steps--so it is...More

We were lucky to get a parking spot at the trailhead. We thoroughly enjoyed the views on the walk and the hike was very easy. We enjoyed scrambling to the top of the rocks near the lakes for magnificent views and photo ops.

Beautiful hike, goign as far as you want, or even up to Mono Pass. Take sunscreen and water, it can get hot.

Aug 2017. You get a lot of bang for your buck in this popular, dog-friendly trail. I've been longing to do a hike in this area, but was hesitant knowing that my lungs don't handle high altitude well. I read reviews that said the trail...More

This is a gorgeous area to hike and you can get to some breathtaking views without spending your whole day hiking to a destination. Some parts of the trail are steep, but all in all, the hike is relatively easy.

Wild flowers were in bloom in late July and got an early start so the light would be warm and the air cool. A few pockets of mosquitoes here and there when stopping to photograph, but nothing that Deet could not handle. A must hike...More

The roads in the area are all very good. We don't have 4-wheel drive and it was very accessible.

We always have hiked passing several lakes up to Long Lake and I estimate it to be 2-3 miles round trip. It is easy for all ages and so scenic you don't realize you went any distance at all. The only consideration will be... More
