We took a drive out from Palm Desert to see the desert in bloom after the unusually plentiful Southern California rains. It was about 1 hour 20 minutes drive to the visitors center (which had closed at 5). We walked the nature trail there, which had beautiful examples of the local cacti and plants that were in full boom. The... More

We visited during the super bloom. This was our first visit. There were tons of people there, more so on Sunday than on Saturday. Lots of gorgeous flowers to photograph. Very hot, so bring lots of water, sunscreen, and a hat. There are some areas where you can drive on dirt roads, so if you are choosing between bringing the... More

Absolutely loved this place. I don't know if it was better last week, but it was incredible yesterday. Go, there is still a ton of beauty to enjoy. 79 S2 and S3 go all over!

We were lucky enough to time our trip for the super bloom 2017. There were acres of sunflowers that were almost two inches wide. Lavender verbena was easy to find. Pinks, whites, blues were all represented. There is a very nice Visitor Center. It hasi a lot of information about the plants and animals of the area. There are samples... More

We spent a week here at the state park campground during the start of February, our check in was handled smoothly and the RV site we had was fairly level. Washrooms were clean, and sites cleaned after the previous people left. The park has multiple hikes you can take, many well marked with informative handouts available. The park office has... More

This is our first visit to this 600,000 acres state park. The drive was almost four hours and we arrived late Sunday while lines of people leaving. For the next two days we explored the park by car and on foot. We did not hike but saw beautiful wild flowers everywhere. The ground near the Visitor's center is worth to... More

It is a long way from anywhere. There will be lots of mountain driving on two lane roads. I would suggest not going on the weekend as it was even crowded on a week day. Prepare to do some walking, bring water, a hat and some sun screen. We have had lots of rain in California this Spring and the... More

I like the desert and enjoyed the desert view. My husband and I visited to see the Spring "super bloom". While I read many reviews of people disappointed with all the little flowers, I was quite happy to see them. The flowers were lovely, and my husband enjoyed taking photos at this location.

We visited this park in mid-March. We drove out for the day to try to see the super bloom, about which we had read so much. I must've met, we were disappointed in the blooms. It was pretty but not spectacular as we had expected. However, the park is beautiful and has lots of trails and varied typography, different kinds... More

A nice desert spot, of course popular in Spring with some flowers. Been there several times, always have fun and see something different. Fonts Point is a must see.
