This is worth every minute of a detour. Once the Tarmac runs out it's onto a gravel road. But once you arrive here it is very thought provoking. Everything has just been left, the buildings are amazing. For a real ghost Town this is the...More

Rarely do you get to see a ghost town that isn't some Disneyesque creation with animation etc. But the true remnants of a place where so much happened, without varnish and nonsense. It is bleak, and takes an effort to get to, but worth the...More

Spent the weekend in the Mono County area. Truly a beautiful drive. Truly enjoyed spending the day at this historical park taking tons of pictures and learning about the old ways. Looking forward to going back again.

Bodie is a great place to visit, very worth the drive. The road into the town is paved for about 10 miles, then goes to a dirt road for the last 3 miles. Once you round the last corner, the former town is revealed. The...More

Really enjoyed walking around what is left of a once thriving gold rush town. It's been left in a state of 'preserved decay' which made for some interesting and eerie peering into windows of old homes and other establishments. There are tours but we didn't...More

From the end of the pavement to the parking lot is 3 miles on a gravel and dirt road. In general, the road is easily negotiable even in a smaller sedan, as most of the comments to your question have stated. However, the... More

Pack your lunch....like everyone else mentioned you are in the middle of nowhere and the wonder of the place quickly takes up the whole day. This is somewhere we fell upon by accident and are quick to recommend to others.
