Cute town

We enjoyed the handmade tiles decorating the wall along the walkway. LOTS of driftwood on the beach made the walk interesting.

Capitola is a quaint little town on the coast near Santa Cruz. Several restaurants with patios overlook the beach.

It is a wonderful quaint beach with smooth dark colored sand. Two issues. First parking as one would expect was challenging. We bit the bullett and parked in a private lot rather than circle the block over and over again. Not cheap but we were there for just the day and wanted to spend it enjoying the beautiful city and... Major storms had hit beach shortly before our visit. Lots of drift wood + sand erosion. Signs said beach closed but many playing on beach and stacking drift wood. Nice view and several places to eat or have a drink. Pay parking.

Capitola is somewhat unknown by many California natives beyond the Central Coast. First-time visitors to California tend to miss our little town. The beach is a gem, but parking is difficult.

This is a great beach to hang out with the family during the summer. Parking is a hassle but once you get here, it's fun. Lots of restaurants and shops to browse. Also, you can sit at the benches near the beach. It has a small surfing beach for beginners.

We love this beach and were so surprised to see it this past weekend(Feb.4th). The beach is very small and is covered with trees and wood debris from the recent storms(see photos). During the summer this beach is very crowded with tourists but this time of year is usually empty. There were a few die hard surfers out in the... More

We came after a decent winter storm and there was driftwood and debris everywhere. This made for Vera building materials for the fun living and the kids. The beach is small and easily accessible with tons of shops, restaurants, bars and more nearby. Parking can be tough so go early.

This is a main tourist beach in the Santa Cruz area, and one of the best. It can be a little crowded sometimes, but it's a nice beach for having lots of facilities close by and it's more protected than many other beaches.
