I went on the tour with a medium sized group ( 20- 25) I live very close to the facility but this was my first tour . What a great experience. The guides were so informative and pleasant. GIA is the leading research, education and training facility in the world. The stones both cut and rough are amazing. They have... More

This was our first visit to GIA Museum. We went as a family of four after making a reservation the day before. The group was about 15 people and mostly adults. We had very well informed guide narrate our way through the exhibits. The kids enjoyed the 'petting zoo' area which allowed touching gently of huge crystals and various other... More

We really enjoyed and learned a lot on this tour. We got a scientific and historical overview of where precious and semi precious stones come from. Wonderful displays of minerals and stones in their raw and finished states. Most of the displays were breathtaking. There also was an area of displays of one of a kind jewelry pieces. People come... If you go to the museum make sure you also do the tour. It's free but you need to sign up beforehand. It's lead by a very knowledgeable person and you get to hear all kinds of interesting information on diamonds, their types, history, grading and many other things you did not know. Highly recommend this even if you are... More

I feel super safe in here. And rightly so with the armed security and security gate check. Make sure you make an appointment or you're not getting in. Proud mama!

I've been here a couple times on school field trips. It's a very cool place if you like stones, minerals and gems...and I do. The kids were actually allowed to hold and examine the stones. I like this place

We had a group tour, about 2 hours, Tom explained all about gems, diamonds, jewelry, history, and what they do there. They have a mini-musem, small cafe, beautiful displays, real diamonds and gems. I think you need a tour guide to truly appreciate all of it. Beautiful building, friendly staff, just a wonderful experience. Near Carlsbad Outlets, Flower Fields, and... More

If you have kids who enjoy rocks and jewelry this is a good quick stop. There are cases in the exhibit that are interestingly beautiful. The GIA is also great if you can get a tour for the school so that you may be able to go behind the scenes.

If you have ever had an interest in Gems and Jewelry, you owe it to yourself to set time aside and schedule (RESERVATIONS ONLY) a visit, and/or add a guided tour, to the Gemological Institute of America - GIA. What a wow factor in the things people can do with a mindset towards art and gemstone arrangements. Educational and nice... More
