Every time we come to this beach (seriously) there are more flowers at the signpost for the most recent person who has drowned here, (nicknamed by locals as "Mortuary Beach"). That goes for the visiting children, the person who didn't know not to turn their...More

Nice place for an easy stroll near the water. Watch for animal droppings on the path. Hard to pull back out onto the highway.

This beach is located so it has views of Monterey Peninsula to the north and the Point Lobos Reserve to the south. The waves crash onto the shore and the beach has a large dune that parallels the water. The seize of the sand particles...More

Unless you're a diver, going into water isn't recommended. But walking on shore line is a pleasure. From the bluff we saw a pod of whales, blowing and flipping their tails. Great restrooms. Otherwise undeveloped but mellow, totally mellow.

We wanted to see why this beach was so dangerous and deadly. It looked calm and wonderful. However, we just wanted to see the beach and I wanted to show my wife the coast of California and how beautiful it is. As we read the...More

A gem of a beach. I stopped purely by chance and I am so glad I did. Had the place almost to myself.

Small cove with limited parking right by Highway 1 out of Carmel. Good photo opportunity. There is a monastery set back from the beach, hence the name. But do heed the warnings by other reviewers.

Having lived her for over 50-years, I've read about dozens of drownings of unsuspecting tourists. even when standing in ankle-deep water. Do not let the beautiful white sand lure you near the water! Don't believe me? Google: Monastery Beach Drownings. Don't be another dumb tourist...More

It probably would be but as for when our best weather is in the fall and the spring. The summer months can be socked in fog. I'm not sure who you need to contact to get permission to have a wedding on the beach.
