Gorgeous mission on the California coast! Not too far from a great sunset look-out spot! Check out the church, the gardens, and the museums to learn more about the Spanish missions!

Visiting the Mission is well worth your time. Read up on the history of the Mission and it's founder. If you've got the time, attend one of the many Masses at the Mission. Very inspiring.

My husband and I first visited San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission, on our honeymoon, 46 years ago! It was the very first California Mission I had ever visited at that time. On this occasion it was interesting to see how much the mission has...More

Learn about Padre Junipero Serra's success in establishing the Spanish missions along California's coastline in the late 18th century. Carmel's mission is very well preserved and beautifully historic. Recommended for any visit to the Monterey Peninsula.

The Mission of Saint Charles Borromeo was Junípero Serra's base. When I was in fourth grade, we studied how this Franciscan and a small band of friars went up the coast of California and established missions. Today he is a saint in the Catholic Church....More

The outside of the Mission, inside and throughout the gardens this is a wonderful sight to take your time to visit! Was there for a wedding and truly appreciated the experience. Make the time to visit whenever you are in the area!

Most informative history lesson in this well organized review of the Fr Juniper Serra’s contribution to the Mission expansion in California. Studying in a book does not compare with visiting the actual historical sight. A MUST VISIT WHILE IN CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA.

This is a small but interesting museum. The gardens are quite well done. The interiors of the church are beautiful. There is a fair amount of interesting exhibits. Worth a quick stop to see everything.

Call and ask 831-624-1271. If you see a tour bus in the parking lot, I would suggest come back at another time.
