Also, one of the few that allows alcohol and bonfires (apparently). We had a nice picnic on the beach in the winter. It can get quite full in the summer, but is perfect in the non-summer season. Park in Carmel city and walk down to the beach for a nice stroll (parking is very limited as well).

Staying in Carmel for a couple of nights I mistimed the first nights visit to watch the Sunset over the Pacific, so made absolutely certain of arriving both early enough but more importantly staying long enough to catch the full colouration of the evening sky. A bonus was watching dolphins (?) surfacing just offshore and moving slowly along the coastline.... More

Bring some chairs and lunch because if the weather is right, you won't want to leave. Well maintained Beach area although the bathrooms leave much to be desired. Decent parking and dog friendly for sure.

Crowded but plenty of room to toss football and run around. Beautiful vistas and sunsets. There are restrooms on site which nice with kids.

the whole coast along here is spectacular, Carmel beach was clean and was fairly quiet in may. you just have to do the coast run back through Big Sur it's an epic trip, we hired Harleys and rode it twice just for a laugh

I've been here a few times and enjoy walking on the beach. I was there at the weekend and there were a lot of dogs running freely, some were playing/fighting with each other at my ankles which made me very unconfortable - so just beware especially if you are not a dog-lover or have very young kids!

We visited in February It was chilly and cloudy but still very nice. I can emagine how it is great at summer. The problem is it is not cheap to stay in the city and problem to find parking.

Off season. We were very lucky with the weather! So nice to stroll and see all the dogs running on the beach.
