Crowded and lively with a cool bar vibe. Located in the heart of the Ocean Avenue restaurants and shops. Since we are not oyster eaters we opted for sandwiches. Portions are enormous and ingredients fresh and tasty. Very noisy during midday lunch rush, but fun.

This place may be tiny but amazing! A must stop if you love raw oysters (hence the name) & a great bloody Mary. There was a bit of a wait on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant had great service so worth the wait. The town of Carmel is lovely, sweet cottages. It is bit of a fairy tale town.

Never heard of Rose chowder... but will ask for it now! Red Manhatten swirled into the NE style which is sometimes too rich fir me. This was perfect. Been trying chowder all over town-- had some good ones, but all 3 styles were top on our list Fish & chips was one of best too with 3 large pieces of... More

We come to Carmel at least once a year, and can't stay away from AW Shucks. The owners (Michelle and Mike) never fail to make us feel at home and their food is fresh and cooked to order. They often have oysters from different regions to enjoy, something for everyone's taste. The only surprise this time was that instead of... More

Stopped by for a couple of pre dinner drinks and wasn't disappointed. Cocktails at the bar were delicious and beer selection varied. Best bar in town.

Dinner with Clint Eastwood, it wasn't, but I bet Ol' Dirty Harry eats here. We had a dozen raw oysters, half from Chesapeake Bay and half from San Francisco. I also had a fried seafood combo with calamari, fish and prawns. A couple of Bloody Mary oyster shooters got us in the mood. The food was excellent and the service... More

Although this is an oyster bar, we had fish and chips and shrimp and chips. It was top notch! Some of the best we've ever had! I'll be back!

There was s long wait but they take your number and call when table is almost ready giving you time to shop while waiting. Small restaurant but great atmosphere. Staff was friendly and fast. We had a dozen oysters which were cold, fresh and delicious. Burger was average but hot which I love. Fries great (super hot). Drinks were average... More

This place is a must if you are in Carmel. Great internal decor and serving staff. If there is a fault is that it's quite small and a little dark. Fantastic range if seafood that includes amazing oysters and prawn cocktails. And I mean a real prawn cocktail. There's a decent range of drinks including real ales and spirits. Will... More
