If you are in the area and want to get away from the city this is the place. A nice simple trail system and lots of wildlife hidden away from the hustle of the city just outside the gate. You can see deer, turkey, squirells, lizards (in summer) and numerous species of birds. Most are all used to the people... More

Went out early morning on Thanksgiving Day. We saw so many deer who were clearly not scared of humans which made for nice viewing. The turkeys were hanging low (being Thanksgiving and all) but we did finally manage to see 4 of them. Nice walking trails. Gift shop was closed and I was upset because I remember it had nice... Effie Yeaw Nature Center is a place to walk up close and personal with nature. Most days you will see deer and turkeys, along with many birds, squirrels, and rabbits (sometimes snakes and lizards) doing their thing among the many oaks and shrubs. You can walk down by the American river and see ducks, herons, and sometimes Canadian geese and... More

This nature center is not too big and easy for children to explore. It is right on the river so you can easily hike down to the river or you can visit the nature center and see animals that have been rescued up close. There are presentations on a regular basis and the times are listed at the center. It... More

We visited Effie Yeaw for the first time today. I took a 12 and 8-year-old to walk the trails while playing Pokémon Go. We paid the $8 parking fee (Higher than the normal $5 due to it being a holiday weekend). We parked and walked to the front of the nature center. It was nice to see that there was... More

Effie Yeaw is an amazing place to walk. It has trails that walk you throughout nature. On your walks you will see deer, doe, fawns, turkey and many more. You will hear and see woodpeckers high in the trees. If you get tired, there are several benches to sit at. They have fantastic Maidu Indian replicas of a house outside.... More

A tranquil area near a busy community, with abundant wildlife. Walking the nature trails is always interesting there are deer, coyotes and a list of different birds. Walking to the American River is quick and easy but watch out for snakes. There are a few. The Docents are helpful and informative. It's one of those 'must do' kinda places. Remember... More
