We bought a second home in the Hamilton Branch area of the lake three years ago. We had looked all over northern California for a getaway place and kept coming back to this area. Very glad we did.

Sunrise over the lake is simply breath taking with the low hanging fog over the water surface while a couple of white pelicans gracefully swimming in the mist.

The bike ride around the like is very enjoyable. Stop for a burger along the way! About 31 miles total.

Have periodically visited this lake & area since childhood and love to come back. The local & seasonal (cabins) residents love the area and are protective in that they keep the knowledge of the lake to themselves. It's a big beautiful lake with plenty of...More

We drove around the lake and stopped at few spots to go for a hike. It was beautiful. There are plenty of paths. We noticed a lot of red ants so Beware when you are off the path.

Not natural, but lovely none the less. Fishing, swimming boating (motor and not), camping, hiking all right there. Chester is a nice, small town with a few good restaurants, a grocery store, gas stations. Very family oriented.

The lake is huge and provides interesting drive around it with views of Lassen Peak. Some homes were million dollars some were RV and crowded. Very limited dining options. The town if Chester small and cute but it offered very limited things to do.

I have been in love with this area X 30 years...Beautiful mountains, clean air, the drinking water is pure from the tap, great hiking, boating... I love that this place is uncrowded as the Tahoe area has become! A gem, great getaway and friendly people...

We didn't fish, but know many people that like to camp and fish here. We were riding the logging roads on our quads. Went to take the meadow trail back to our friends place and had to take a different route since the trail was...More

There are plenty of beaches around Lake Almanor - they are public and you should have no problem finding one.
