One of the largest municipal parks in the US, Bidwell Park is a lush forest with Chico Creek running in the center of the park. Many folks flock to the park to run, bike, walk, swim and just escape from life's pressures. The wildlife and wide variety of trees and plants make "Sherwood Forest" a pleasant place to while away... This is actually a series of parks. I run/walk there several times a week year round. It never ceases to amaze me with it's ever changing beauty. Something for everyone here.

A park within Chico and beyond. Upper Park, 5 Mile, and One Mile. All unique, all worth visiting. Some of the film Robin Hood with Errol Flynn, was filmed in areas of the park. The park is filled with hiking trails, bike paths, and horse trails as well. The park is well known for its Nature Center, which sponsors activities... More

Bidwell Park and Upper Bidwell Park offer amazing walking, biking, swimming, and even horse backing trails. The views in upper park in the spring should never ever be passed up. Worth the drive if you're from out of town.

I love Bidwell Park! The place is HUGE with a wide variety of terrain for different levels of fitness. I primarily go for the disc golf which is a killer course with spectacular views. The Park is also great for hiking and mountain biking.

We came here from Reno and it was absolutely gorgeous. You could hike for miles on different trails, swim in little water holes, rock climb, fish, etc. We ended up walking around for more than 3 hours and swimming surrounded by dragonflies. Since then, we have gone one more time and are planning to go again this month.

We lived in Chico for a year and a half 2009 to 2011 then my son passed away. He loved to drive down to Bidwell Park and travel the paths. There were always lots of people to watch and talk to. The river was damed up so there was a big free swimming hole and plenty of people to swim.... More
