The Bidwell family left Chico a fantastic natural heritage that remains the heart and soul of the city. The lower park has a nice play area for children and a throw-back area where the river has been walled in to create a funky natural swimming "pool". It's a spectacular site for nature walks and to see the leaves changing colors... More

Always an Epic visit for hiking, views and photo opportunities. You can hike the valley floor or the upper rims.

This park is amazing. There is so much to do at this park. I take my boys to play in the huge playground that they have. In the summer time we go swimming there and it's a great place for a great peaceful walk or a nice run on all the trails that have a beautiful scenery.

It's fall in Chico and Bidwell Park. It is beautiful. There are several places to stop and take a nice refreshing walk. You chose how long you like to walk and pick a place, One Mile, Five Mile or one of the numerous openings along the road next to the park. It is a place meant to be enjoyed.

The park basically covers the watershed of Chico creek. The lower Bidwell park is a nice city park with beautiful trees, shady trails, bridges over the creek, easy walking - nice and peaceful. But if you drive a few miles East, it becomes a much bigger place with ragged trails going over volcanic rocks. While the trails a relatively short... More

Bidwell park is land set aside by John Bidwell for the public to enjoy. There is a lower portion inside the city of Chico and an upper portion outside of the city. These 2 parcels of land have very different personalities. In Lower Bidwell within the city, the park touches campus. It is tree and plant filled with a stream... More

A group of fraternity brothers and wives were in town for a special occasion and we enjoyed a great 2 hour hike in Upper Bidwell Park. Although Lower Bidwell is in the city of Chico, Upper Bidwell is outside the city area and you can enjoy hiking in the hills and by the river. Dogs are allowed to be off-leash... More

Made a quick visit to Upper Bidwell when visiting our college student here. It's a very nice facility, with clean bathrooms, good roads in and out, and plenty of parking at several locations within the park. Lots of hiking trails with a variety of difficulty levels. Really nice place to step away from the bustle of the college town and... More

This was recommended to us by the hotel staff so we took the kids on a stroll through only a small part. We went past this incredible creek fed pool. It must a joy to swim in there in summer. The playground was fun and the kids saw a squirrel. Plenty of people out and about using this park.
