Often referred to as the Coulterville Museum, offers visitors a glimpse of the life and times of early California, from the early 1800’s through the boom days of the 1849 California Gold Rush and the post gold rush era of the late 1800’s to early 20th century. Coulterville boasts 132 registered historic buildings, the museum is housed in one of them. The museum is unique in that its various displays feature relics specific to the local area. Both inside and external exhibits. Open Feb. - December, Wed. - Sunday, 10 am - 4 pm, Closed the month of January, Christmas and Thanksgiving. Free admission, donations always appreciated.

Came by with my three girls and spent some time learning about the local history. Nice little museum and the docent, Lynette/Lanette, was super friendly, informative and made the history center come alive. Highly recommend!

A great place to stop, stretch your legs and absorb a bit of history while driving up (or down) Hwy 49. The museum is free. The lady there the day we went was very friendly, offering all kinds of tip and side roads to take....More

We were ready for a stop. The Tourist Information Center in the hotel was closed because of a fire. Across the street it had opened in a museum where we signed yet another visitor book because it helps them help other visitors in the future....More

it was cool, i like the little models they had and the old stuff - technically, i like just about any museum - they also offered gold panning (but we didn't have time to do that) I liked the old western parts of it

Lovely friendly ladies manning the museum and a really interesting stop with some great exhibits. Definitely pop in if you are travelling through Coulterville, we really enjoyed ourselves.

We enjoyed visiting this historical landmark to learn more about the local area. The docent was very knowledgeable and shared with us about the history of Coulterville, the buildings, and the surrounding areas.

I actually live in Coulterville, and that's a picture of the historic Hotel Jeffery. This little town has a great big heart.
