We enjoyed our one-day visit to Dixon Lake. We took one of several hikes in the area and also hiked up to Daley Ranch. Easy place to park if you just want to hike, and you don't have to pay for parking when parking at...More

My family stopped here for a few hours to stretch their legs on the way to San Diego. The park is not horrible but I am guessing the bathrooms, trails, shelters, etc were installed in the 1960's and they are badly in need of replacement/refurbishment....More

Dixon lake is East of Escondido in the foothills. It is a great family place for a variety of outdoor activities. Boating, and fishing are good. We go there for picnic's and find it a wonderful serene spot that is close to town.

It has a very clean environment around and in the lake. There are many great hiking trails around the lake. Also, it is great for fishing. Many grassy areas are open for picnics. It is free to enter on the weekends.

We camped this past weekend at Dixon Lake. It was a great experience! The campsites are clean and well-maintained and with the gates closed and locked at sundown, we felt very safe and secure. We broke the rules and checked out the campsite beforehand (cars...More

Being charged a fee to fish is not the problem. Having to line up shoulder to shoulder with strangers behind a barrier to night fish is. Lines crossed all night with people who are practically sitting in your lap because you are ALL suppose to...More

If any body plan to go fishing at DIxon lake, it is better off by just filling up your bath tub and fish there instead.

You may not, to my knowledge, use any craft of your own. You fish from shore, or from one of their rental boats. Use their Facebook page, or website, or just call the lake to confirm--that would be the easiest, just call... More

Reasonable fees, around $3-$5, yes to the easy hiking as well. Beautiful, scenic lake, worth the trip!
