If you collect missions, like we do, you have to visit this one. If you're looking for an average mission, maybe slightly above average, this one will do.

This is not the most impressive Mission, nor the biggest, nor the fanciest. But it is a beautiful slice of California history. Each Mission has its own character. Nice gift shop, cemetery. Wonderful for weddings and musical performances. It's a bit off the beaten path...More

I have been visiting the California missions. There are 21 from Sonoma to San Diego. It's on my bucket list to visit them all. This is not the most beautiful, but it was interesting nonetheless. More beautiful inside than out. Great museum, nice gift shop...More

Visited late on Memorial Day, 2017. Glad to have a chance to visit such a wonderful reminder of Missionary work and dedication, Included in the tour is an excellent gift shop with many religious and secular items (like postcards). Well worth the 20 mile trip...More

I live in the same city as this mission, but have only been here twice. However, both times it didn't hesitate to astonish. Most recently I was there for a wedding. The church is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, and it's a wonderful experience.

The Mission of San Jose is super charming! It's from 1797 and has been nicely renovated and preserved. Nice little Museum, and the sanctuary has that adobe flair.

The site was very small without too much to see. Its story wasn't told in an interesting/engaging way by its exhibits. It is not worth for its ticket price.

The displays and exhibits are very interesting and informative and give a good overview of what life in a Spanish mission would have been like. My one reservation is that the museum's displays assume that mission life was an improvement over their historical lifestyle for...More

Old mission, wood pews and all. Went to see a choral group for a Christmas concert. Sat about midway in the church and the accoustics were great. I'd go again for a similar event.
