Take a tour off Highway 99 and visit Fresno's best kept secret. *A hand-built network of underground rooms, courtyards and passageways reminiscent of the ancient catacombs. *Unique fruit producing trees, shrubs, and vines growing underground - some over 90 years old! *Ancient Roman architecture - arches, vaults and stone-built walls. *Underground micro-climates - temperature variations of 10 to 30 degrees! *Underground home of Sicilian visionary and self-taught artist/builder Baldassare Forestiere.

Where to go when 100 degrees outside, underground! What a history of talent and vision. Unfortunately only a small part of this mans dedication and hard work survived the encroachment of freeways and development. Guides are very informative and provide a really special experience.

This was better than expected, even though I had a rough idea of what to expect reading about it in advance. Went with my 18 year old daughter who is not much into sightseeing, and even she was impressed. We both could not stop talking...More

Our tour guide here was amazing - as were all the staff. The "Underground" gardens are interesting and worth the stop, but for us, they were simply not that amazing. Some spots like "Hole in the Wall" near Moab and others were equally or more...More

What a wonderful little oasis of history and solitude in the middle of a bustling business area. Sad that so much of it is lost but the little nugget that has been preserved is well worth the visit. A great example of how hard work...More

The Forestiere underground gardens are truly amazing. They are a monument to one man's dedication and hard work. They remind you a little of Italy in design and spirit. I think the reason to go is to see what can be done with hard work...More

We weer a bit late but that was not a problem. Latieshka was our guide and she was great. She made the old times alive. The tour was so interesting and the gardens are realy nice and cool. Worth visiting!

Very enjoyable tour. Knowledgeable tour guide. You would be hard pressed to find an Italian immigrant story like this one. The man spent 40 years creating an underground home/resort. At one time it was 80 acres; only 10 remain, but it is all quite extraordinary....More
