Elk and Deer and all kinds of wildlife abound. This is an amazing place and, so far, this river has been preserved and one of the most natural... More

We were lucky enough to book a cabin on the Smith River. It is a super clean, emerald colored, winding & twisting river. There are many public beaches (rocky) with great swimming holes. It is the only river in CA that isn't dammed and it shows. The water is very clear. We don't fish but I'm told the fishing is... More

I discovered the Smith River on my 1st cross-country trip in 1975; it's 41 years later and we now live along the river at the edge of Jed Smith Redwoods State Park. The river and the park are as magnificent now as they were then. All 3 Forks of the Smith River contain fabulous swimming holes in summer, as well... More

Superclean rivers with absolutely stunning views. Thanks to all the rain there was rushing water and waterfalls from the sides of the mountains Plenty of pullouts for photo ops. Some of the road has no side rails so don't speed around the sharp curves or you may end up in the river.

People river raft down it and kayak too. This is a beautiful super clean and clear river. It goes right by Jed Smith park and a few other state beaches.... More

This river is fantastic for floating, swimming, walking along or just sitting on the banks and enjoying. There are lots of swimming holes and lots of places for both tranquil floats and fast paced rapids. Myrtle beach is gorgeous, but there tend to be a lot of people there.

There is nothing there. You have a pristine river with difficult access and questonable eateries. The atmosphere is questionable.

Pristine is how I will always remember this river which touts being the cleanest river in the US and I can believe after standing in it and being able to see straight to the bottom! Unparalled in river enjoyment!
