During our last day at this campground we woke up to having my husband's bike stolen even thought it was locked up, they used bolt cutters to cut the lock. The campground patrol said that late at night people will come and steal outside generators as well. It's a small campground located near the train tracks so you will hear... More

It has been my favorite beach for many years but the State has done and awful job of maintaining the campground. This is a very high use park because of the beautiful beach palm tree lined cove. This campground should be a "State showcase". I would be ashamed to be a ranger in the park. The showers are filthy and... More

The kind of beach you hope to find with few people and plenty of natural wonders for a beach scavenger hunt

Skip this place and find another. From oil spill residue, decressed wildlife, overpricing, noise and wind, this is not a getaway, but a torture!!!!! The train screeching by at 2-4 am around the corner is a deafening sleep killer... Beware of the sleep deprivation and headaches!!! Don't know how any reviewer likes this place. It is super noisy all night... More

The reef at the north end of the beach is filled with kelp beds and many varieties of colorful fish. Great shallow dive spot for snorkeling beginners. Fantastic beach access with sandy beach and towering date palms.

Nice campsites, clean restrooms, hot showers, no hook ups. Some folks would not like the trains as they run a few times a night - loud and close but ok. There is a odor issue with the sewage disposers/separators. Don't camp close to these as they are Not Good. The beach was very nice for walking. Price at $35 a... More

Unfortunately our camping space was about as far north as we could have received, and it had a huge amount of freeway noise. Aside from normal highway noise, the 101 in the area next to the park has a steep downhill, so lots of trucks use engine braking. You can still hear the freeway in the spots near the beach,... More

You have to make reservations 7 months in advance but it's worth it. It's located about 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara so if you want to eat out other than at the camp site, it's doable. The beach is more like a cove. It was pretty empty when we went because most kids are in school by Labor Day.... More

Met a friend and went diving on the reef off of Refugio State Park. Water was cold but the Kelp forest was fantastic and reef was great for wildlife. A great place to go diving.

This is my favorite camp ground. I just feel relaxed there. Its small and never crowded even if the grounds are full. My little piece of Maui in Cali.
