This is a beautiful wild spot where the waves comes rolling in to the delight of the surfers. The water is cold and rich with life. We were told that the best time to visit is in April and October. The air is warm and...More

Mavericks is a great place of beautiful nature, The bluff tops and the ocean meeting create a place of serenity. The waves can be the largest in the world here. But do not expect to see them very well with the naked eye. They break...More

Walked and viewed this popular surf point, it was calm and hard to imagine the surf waves crashing, gigantic waves were not visible except in winter

There really isn't anything to see. You can walk along the beach but can't get past the point where the big waves break. If you park in the parking lot and walk up the road there is a Airforce Military fence and guard shack that...More

Great beach, I mean Steve Jobs named an Operating System after it! The views are incredible. Small parking lot, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. It is windy, though! Bring a windproof jacket, and a hat without a bill. I'm not a...More

We had a quick view of the Maverick waves on a rainy day. It was worth the trek out and marked off my bucket list. I get to say I saw the surfer waves with friends. Glad to have walked on the beach.

I like to walk beaches and carry binoculars to check out the birds. This is a great place even when packed with people. Cliffs, beach and wetland add to the variety of wildlife. Have lunch nearby and wave watch.

We went to this beach because we knew that Maevricks is famous for huge waves and an annual surfing championship. We walked on the beach but discovered the surfing waves are two miles out so we couldn't see them from land. You can't climb up...More

Even though the conditions were bad, it was still cool to see where epic waves form. Wish it could have been better conditions though. Easy access and parking.

Mavericks run October thru March, so depending on the waves. It is called with 48 hours notice to get to Mavericks so you just have to be on call. The waves have to be just right for the surfers and some years it doesn't... More

I think Half Moon Bay is the location closest to The Mavericks for hotel accommodations. I stayed at the Ritz Carlton, which was absolutely lovely
