Great Path

I enjoyed the walk. Room enough for the bikers and the walkers. Scenery is beautiful as it winds around Coronado.

While staying on Coronado I wanted to get a ride in and got a map of the route from a local bike shop. The beginning of the ride was gorgeous on the peninsula from Coronado but after that I was disappointed by the pot holes, railroad tracks, construction(with signs stating no bikes allowed), poorly marked route, and industrial areas. Taking... More

It is always fun to have a great bike ride and what a better place to do it than Imperial Beach, Ca.

We rented a tandem cruiser (single speed) bike and rode the bikeway. The entire route is roughly 25 miles, which took us a couple hours including a few stops along the way. We departed from the harbor and rode toward Chula Vista. The first part of the ride after we exited the city was a little sketchy, the trail takes... More

I rode this bike path from the Coronado Ferry to Imperial Beach and back 3 times during my visit to the area in February. It's nice because it is almost flat, you get a variety of scenery along the way, and Imperial Beach is a perfect lunch time and beach rest turnaround point. I had my own 8 speed bike,... More

I first reviewed this trail as a very novice cyclist. I felt at the time like many of the better cyclists could use some lessons in manners. Many, many miles later, and quite a few established cycling trails behind me, I still feel the same. While staying at a local RV park for the summer months, I cycled this trail... More

We biked from Chula Vista to Silver Strand Beach and then south to the Imperial Beach Pier. The trail on the Chula Vista side was mostly closed, detouring us onto roads, but once past the Salt flats and plant the trail restarted and was clear the rest of the way. The trail itself is pretty clearly marked. You can take... More

This forms an important link between Imperial Beach and Coronado, so I am glad it exists, but at times it's right by a busy highway and not all that scenic. The south end (where there are lots of shorebirds and ducks) is the most interesting part, and the stretch through Coronado is very nice.

Great views of the bay, paved trail with rest stops. Perfect biking trail but, be cautious as there are a few jerks who think they are speed racers and come dangerously close at high sppeds

The Bikeway is a combination of dedicated bike paths and marked bike lanes/routes. The most popular section runs from Coronado to Imperial Beach - maybe 10 miles or so. This section is perfectly flat and very safe - completely isolated from cars. Keep in mind that the prevailing wind is over 10 mph from the north. So if you rent... More
