Wonderful piece of gold rush history preserved for all to see for free. The bad thing is once darkness falls on this nice park unsavory people like to dwell in it and leave their trash for others to cleanup the next day.

It is small but very interesting. We went when it was 104 outside but there is shade. You must see the mine itself to go along with this.

If you're interested in gold mining and/or gold rush history, this open air display is worth a 15-20 minute visit. It's a little gem off the beaten path. The community has raised a lot of money to create this park.

Interesting stop on our recent road trip. Huge old wooden wheels give a glimpse into the mining past of this scenic area. Well worth checking out if in the area.

It is a small park but there is gold rush history there with the HUGE water wheel. I enjoy history and how things were built back then. They have one wheel laying on the ground and they rebuilt another one. Just the time and effort...More

The drive in was as interesting as the tailing park! Some of the buildings date back from the gold rush times. This was a new part of town for us. One building had the big metal doors from long ago! There's a parking lot right...More

Definitely worth a stop. There was not a guide when we visited, but very much enjoyed reading about and seeing the Tailing Wheels. One has completely collapsed, and the other is housed in a building to preserve it.

There is much to see here, especially considering that the mine has not been operational for decades. The guide was friendly and well informed, and the staff and amenities in general were welcoming. The guide also provided helpful information for exploring Jackson and St. Sava's...More

Great for kids; lots of room to walk around. Fun to learn about mining and local history too! Check it out!

Don't miss the wheels on the other side of the road from the parking lot. One still standing - but maybe not for long. One collapsed under its own weight.
