Mission San Antonio de Padua is on the grounds of the Fort Hunter Ligget Army base. Access is no problem - but it is not really close to the major freeway. If you are interested in early California history, the drive is absolutely worth it....More

A visit to this California mission is to take a step back in time. It was founded July 14, 1771 and due to Its remote location, looks like it would have almost 250 years ago. We attended the annual fundraiser, Evening in the Garden, which...More

This Mission is off of the beaten path. You have to drive through a military base. We took several U turns before we found it. Great setting and surroundings.

This is one of my favorite missions. The artwork is beautiful, the chapel is gorgeous and best of all are the 2 mission cats Rosario and Spirit. Rosario is the black cat, make sure you ask about his story (no spoilers here!)

This is one of our favorites, actually it is my favorite. It is a little difficult to get to, but worth it. It is in the middle of a Military reservation, off of Jolon road.

This mission, although remote, was so worth the time/effort to see. The docent was so informative and included a fascinating story about Rosario the mission cat. This black cat joined our group of 40 and eventually led us to the small gift shop after we...More
