Unfortunately we had a ready walked the Xian City Wall just days before walking the Pingyao wall. So, we weren't as impressed as we might have been if we hadn't. Saying that, it was lovely to escape the crazy busy town for a while and...More

You can walk all around the city walls - about 6km. With a guide you can understand the intricacies of how the walls and gates were designed to maximise defence. You can also get an idea of how the city was designed and gain an...More

The wall is about 6 km around and it takes time to walk the whole way! Be sure to be in time! Around 5 pm is the best way to start from the South and walk towards west so that you will have a beautiful...More

The whole walk is 6 km long with comparable views. Best views are around the gates. Maybe you take a walk from North to South, or another half.

Well preserved and impressive. Over 6 km long. You need a ticket to go up the wall though which you can buy for Y130 . The ticket includes entry to all the pingyao sites.

Because the route over wall was as short as the route through town we decided to walk it. Although the shield indicated that the Next step down was 2000 m we walked at least 5 km . All because off two gates were closed. Dont...More
