Mt. Yotei, Ezo Fuji

Stunning mountain rising from a flat plain. Big surprise if you've not seen it before. Many ski fields have Yoteisan as a backdrop, making it even more surreal.

Had a ski tour setup with Black Diamond tours and had a chance to skin up the volcano to ski down some fresh pow. Beautiful views, challenging experience and a memory you'll never forget. Fill up at the hot spring at the base before your trek up.

From crowded Sapporo to here is just a 50 km drive. Once you leave Otaru, you find yourself in vast forests ending in rocks looking out of the ocean. I was extremely impressed although I know lots of places you can consider wilderness.
