More like a small temple where the Enmado, or to the locals is the Judge who determine who goes to heaven or hell... located along the shopping street, its near the Daichitakimoto Hotel.

if you are walking along the street you will find it easily. But if you only have half or a day there, no worth spending time to wait and see. Can afford to miss it. Would be better off spending time walking slowly at Hell...More

If you are around the area if not, nothing spectacular but the demon face look scary. The whole thing will play for around 10min.

We are fans of Japanese history and folklore, so we had to stop and take a look at this statue of Enma the god of hell. at 10:00, 13:00, 15:00, 20:00, and 21:00 every day Enma will start moving, change facial expressions, and chant.

If you happened to pass by during its show time, stop and watch, don't plan your trip around it. Not much of anything to see. Mask switching, arms moving, big sounds.

Just to take a look what it is, but time for waiting to change mood is too long. This is located in the main street of Noboribetsu city. You should to see it once.

Can be missed , really. Waited for at least 2-3 mins for it . Spend more time at the hot spring or shopping down the streets.

In my opinion it is not really interesting. Enma is the god of hell, and this monument was supposedly built to associate with Gigokudani (hell valley), the main attraction of Noboribetsu.

While we were walking up to Jingokudani and at the end of the main street, there was a place with a colourful statue inside. It looked like a temple and the facial expression/colour of the main statue would change in accordance with the time schedule...More
